Why I Don't like Crinklz

I had read good things about Crinklz lately and thought, *mmm I’ve got about 5 or 6 of those left I’ll try one today. *

So I put them on, comfortable, snug, and I started my day.

Now after about three hours I needed to do a No 2 and I don’t use my nappy for that.

I went to remove my nappy and both sides *rrrriiiiipppped.*down the side.

The nappy wasn’t any good for anything but the bin.

That’s why, I remembered, I don’t use Crinklz.

Never had that happen with any of the Crinklz that I have used.

But than again I dont take my diaper off to go #2.

Adair,

I appreciate your comments on Crinklz, and the fact they didn’t hold up to when you tried to remove them. However, I have found that most diapers have a limitation as to where they may end up failing and having to dispose of them before their “useful life” has expired.

I have had this happen with many, many diapers, and for all sorts of reasons. Sometimes, the tabs stick too tightly and rip the diaper when you are trying to release them. Sometimes it is because I love my diapers to be quite snug and when I try to pull them down without releasing the tabs the plastic just can’t quite hold up and tears. But for whatever reason, I have found this can happen with most diapers.

The part I don’t understand, is that Crinklz has a double tape, which allows you to release one of the tapes if you need to remove the diaper. How actually did it rip? Did you release the double tape or did you just try pulling it off? The double tape is one of the things I like about Crinklz is that if I need to remove it, I at least have one opportunity to go ahead and pull off the second tab and take off the diaper then refasten it with the second tab. Kind of like having a second chance which other single tabbed diapers don’t allow.

Currently, Crinklz is my no. 2 favorite diaper (no, I didn’t mean for going no. 2 ***blushes ), but rather it is my 2nd most favorite diaper.

The tape, when undoing pulled the nappy side apart, it didn’t detach. I’ve tried numerous nappies over the last few months and never had this happen to another nappy. As to your question the tape was fixed to the front side of the nappy as they invariably are so it seems a bit fatuous to ask how it ripped.

I never had this happen with both betterdry and crinklz and I use them daily , i too take them off for #2, even multiple times before changing into a new one, they never ripped on me like that.

In my case the only thing that ripped much sooner are the leak guards, they just can’t stand rash creams, most diapers cant too but they don’t break down as much as betterdry’s leak guards. The one diaper whose leak guard did not break down at all are the ones from Nateen.

But I never had a diaper rip on me from the sides, like, ever.

I do recall there was someone else here who had the same thing with crinklz as you did, but this looked like an isolated case.

My guess is you got unlucky and had a faulty batch.

Thanks winterheart. Your reply is more helpful than readers who ask what ripped or that Crinklz has 4 tapes. They ripped at the landing site and were very much StuckOn which I haven’t had before. I must say I prefer Hook & Loop fittings.

I guess I did get a faulty batch - like you I have other nappies that can be fastened and unfastened many times without a problem.

Have a Good Week.

Never had that happen to me and I have a case of Crinklz. They’ve got second chance tapes to come off easily. You’re not meant to remove the first tapes with no landing zone

When untaping a betterdry I do keep a finger on the blue tape to keep it from ripping the plastic, and then gently pull the white tape off.

Now that I think of it, I did have it happen twice that a betterdry had a tape (the white one) that would not come loose and stuck to the blue one like mad, so much in fact that it forced me to rip the plastic apart.

But again this was an isolated incident, only 2 defective diapers.

Kind of strange when you think about it that a diaper cannot handle rash cream. Wounder if this is a problem only when it comes to adult diapers or if some baby diapers have the same thing? Or if they are beater design whit this in mind. Which should be kind of strange if that was the reason.

If you want to take it off to Sh.. then you have to take it off completely - and all 4 tapes tore the nappy.

.

Crinklz / BetterDry have blue “second chance” tabs … myself and the “2 year old” use these diapers for daytime … in the roughly 1,400+ times a year I change Crinklz / BetterDry diapers, I’ve never had a wing rip off, and very rarely have tabs rip off.

Next time you want to drop your diaper to use the potty, gently place your thumbs behind your hips in the top of the diaper, and gently “wiggle” the butt down a bit, than “wiggle” the front down a bit … than go back to the butt … be gentle … diaper usually comes off in 10 seconds or less without damaging or stretching it out.

To put the diaper back on, just do the steps above in reverse .

That’s the trade off with Crinklz. You get a super soft and comfortable diaper that doesn’t have a hard plastic landing pad… but you can’t expect to untape them once they are on.

Crinklz are one of my fav diapers, for me they resemble baby diapers more than the huge abdl diapers with big landing pads.

Yes that would have been another way to do it but my hips are too wide to wiggle over. :frowning:

Which HUGE nappies do you mean? I haven’t come across any and wouldn’t need them.

I have try that sometimes and i feel like that diaper newer feel the same after that.

A medium Crinklz is smaller than medium Rearz or Tykables diapers!

When I pull a Crinklz out of the pack, fluff it up, and lay it down it reminds me more of a typical diaper from my childhood vs the wide, bulky, hard plastic ABDL diapers of today.

I wear BetterDry every morning. To remove it to use the toilet, I just undo the top right white tape only. The blue tape is the landing zone and it stays put. Then I pull it the diaper backup an re fasten the right white tape to it’s mating blue landing zone. I do this 2-3 times each day.

I just undo the white tapes of the right wing and shove the diaper down, when finished I pull it back up and retape the white tapes back on top of the blue tapes that remained in place

When i need to go a second time I then take the left tapes instead of the right ones, and if I need to go a third time, it’s time for a change

Well I have about 5 or 6 left so I use them up but I do prefer. Tykables Unicorn, or the BunnyHops I’m wearing now which seems to have a great capacity and is a very good alternative to Unicorn.

There was only Terry in my childhood which I can’t remember anyway…
