What brands of diapers did you know about when you first realized you liked/needed diapers?
Before I really started getting into diapers I had only known of the basic medical diapers you could find at Wal-mart. Tena and Depends were pretty much the only ones I had seen or knew about. I had no idea that there were ABDL diapers, let alone with prints! Most the diapers i ever saw were white. I don’t remember the brand but I did see one medical brand that had a different soft color to identify the size.
My initial initiation into diapers were pull up. Bought the depends silhouette and walmart brand as well was a pull up. I just learned about abdl diapers as I was going to vegas and mustered enough courage to venture to the changing times diaper company and that’s like being a kid in a candy store. I bought an assortment there. Shortly after Walmart started carrying the tena tab diapers in store for a short while. Bought a lot of those. Now I have to order from Walmart.com and Amazon to get my needed products
At first I got flustered when I saw something like a speedo or tail. After a while, passing through the isles in cvs I just found this cvs brand goodnites that were white with these rainbow squares. I fell in love instantly. Bought like 3 packs over the span of a year when I was 12. I loved the security and bulk in my legs when I wore them and the warmth when I used them. I got into Abu dips before any medical ones when I became 13 and went off from there.
Besides baby diapers (which I outgrew at age 14) I got the nerve at 19 to purchase two packages of Depends. It was the mid 90’s so ABDL designs were still off in the future. I live about 20 minutes away from the Tykables store so you can guess what I mostly wear now.
I was Bedwetter for most of my adolescence, so Goodnites were my introduction. I knew about adult brands like Depends, but even then I knew I wanted more childish options. My first ABDL diaper were Tykables overnights. I remember picking them as they were the only option on their website at the time (you can guess my surprise when I went back a couple years later and they had more designs) and their FAQ specifically stated they had not only discreet shipping, but discreet billing on your bank statement.
I knew of other diapers; but, I started with Depends FlexFit. After 1 package and into the 2nd package, I started looking for something with more capacity. I honestly didn’t think the Depends could handle 2 full bladders of pee. I found Tranquility Premium Overnights that I really like. However, the on-line company I purchased them from came out with their house brand (Dry Direct) that I like even more. I’m not into the AB print diapers so these white ones suit me well.
My initiation into diapers were depends for women. I still use them sometimes under my yoga pants and leggings. But I have been fully diapered now for about 5 months.
I remember in the late '70s, privately obsessed with looking at Pampers ads and leafing through the Sears catalog at the adult diaper section, small as it was…it blew my mind that adult diapers existed: the ones I was looking at looked exactly like Pampers of the time: fanfold. In my preteens and plotting, planning how to get a hold of adult diapers and sneak them into my bedroom to wear…but it was impossible then, so baby diapers it was.
In 1981, my mind began analyzing a toddler Pampers diaper left by a neighbor, which I quickly, stealthily took into my room: the smell was so soft, so babylike. I opened the diaper, began analyzing it…then broke the glue blobs inside the pleats and flattened it. It was then and there my mind came up with a plan: four these could be taped side-by-side in pairs, stacked, refolded. It should fit, I guessed, after measuring the flat diaper and then transferring the measurements on me. So I saved my money, cased the local store and discovered they sold Double Elastic Pampers in the orange box…toddler. And calculated the price, plus tax.
Eventually, I saved up enough and then The Day of Opportunity hit: my family would be gone all day, visiting relatives. Once gone for an hour, I biked out, nervous, my heart pounding…bought the Pampers, brought them home. Got out 4, mesmerized by the scent, assembled my diaper as planned, put it on…perfect fit. That’s how it all started, with 48 toddler Pampers turned into 12 me-sized Pampers.
well i wore diapers at night till i was a late teen , so i wore pampers/mamypoko ( a diaper brand from japan ) till about 12 which i outgrew and couldn’t fit, moved on to youth diapers then adult diapers at 15 , i’ve pretty much worn almost all medical brand diapers ( tena , supermarket house brand etc ) available known in my country at this time . I only knew abdl diapers existed at around 18 but for some reason not into abdl diapers ( not that theres anything wrong with abdl diapers ) but i pretty much gotten used to medical diapers at this point and its much easier to explain when i got caught . Try explaining baby print diapers to parents lol
Well - I have always had IC issues. Recall Pampers in a few grades in school - then medical diapers once they wouldn’t really fit right (cloth diapers too, but only at home or family members house) - and I really am unsure of the first diaper I used after Pampers - but had a good number before finding one that actually worked well enough. As for ABDL diapers - you know I actually can’t remember actually knowing about them until I was in my 20s - but think I did have some at some point when I was way younger than that. BUT I’m sure that was not the point (at that time anyway) - just fit worked well, and for whatever reason faster/easier to get those times I’m pretty sure…
Back in like 2007 I ran into a picture on the internet of a gal in a bambino (then their only model, the “claassico” / “baby blocks”) and I realized it was a manufactured diaper, so I went searching and finally found the bambino web site. That was my first abdl purchase, and for a time I wasn’t aware of any other abdl sources. There were probably some custom outfit makers, but no one was manufacturing anything yet besides bambino.
First diaper worn was Pampers from 7 to 18 until I found a brand called Ambeezs, a cheap medical diaper, than Depends , than Attends, Molicare, and just about every adult diaper on the market.
I mean I never was interested in medical brands ( i am a little bit now but still confused on which ones to get) the first diaper I saw on an AB was in an AB diaper review, I can’t remember which one but it was an ABU brand. I thought she was very cute in the dip, and started just going and going through the reviews.
Cushies was one I saw a bunch, and heard in docs.
I would go on websites and just stare at the dips XD
I’d suggest Northshore Diapers you can easily go to their website and send an email requesting free samples. I’ve been able to try their MegaMax, AirSupreme, and lite versions. I also got some free samples from abena. So far most medical companies have had great customer service in trying to get me what I want. While the medical/white diapers aren’t my favorite for looks, I thought I should still try them out.
I only knew about Depends growing up. Someone got my dad a Depend diaper as a joke when he turned 40 and I remember wanting it so bad. When I was able to drive in the early 90’s, that was the first diapers I bought. That was all I could really get a hold of. It wasn’t until I moved to Arkansas that my local pharmacy had Attends 10 Waistband diapers. I thought they were amazing! I have bought a lot of thick, awesome diapers but nothing that I would consider AB/DL. Not really into the printed diapers.
