I did a search for this in the search engine, came up blank, so here goes…
Out of all the diapers I’ve worn and wet, the worst was Tranquility (I’ve never worn a Depends before): I bought a small pack at a thrift store, they were peach color, went home, bared down, diapered up…and the elastic from the leg gathers hurt…not bad at first but over the diaper’s lifespan it got worse, especially after I wet. Upon changing my diaper, I saw blood: the elastic penetrated my skin right near my personals so I patched myself up, tossed the soggy, wadded diaper and the rest of the diapers with it.
Plain out, wearing a diaper isn’t supposed to hurt.
I have not worn a large number of. different diapers, but for me the worst has been Northshore Air Supreme. They are so stiff that I didn’t even enjoy wearing them. On the other hand, I really like Northshore AirPremium.
I can already hear people saying that I did not fluff them properly. I did though. If they could get them softer, they would be great.
I haven’t worn any diapers except form the rearz website, and I liked them both (Princess pink and safari), but hearing these diaper horror stories and disappointments really remind me how privileged I have it haha.
The people who have been in the community for “eons” had to do some ground work lol, I just watched reviews on youtube and went on with my day . And had the money to buy them also, some people don’t have the money to buy the diapers that are a great fit for them. So yes very privileged.
I’m sorry that the dip hurt you and made you bleed, as a big person clothes have hurt me before and yeah yikessss.
I understand 100%. It’s rare that I ever see anyone fluff up diapers between out-of-the-pack and putting them on baby…frankly, it shouldn’t matter. Baby or adult, diapers should be wearable out of the pack; perhaps not fully soft but, if stiff, they should wear in within minutes. That sounds like one diaper for me to avoid!
oooh ouch! It’s supposed to be comforting not cut skin! Anyways since I have only worn goodnites so far, I can’t really say much. All I can say is that I had good times and really bad times with the goodnites I bought. The bad times were whenever the diaper would tear up as I am putting it on
I’ll put in a cloth diaper candidate. I’ve been buying and using Leakmaster night weight pre-fold diapers for years but not too long ago, I ordered a couple and one was smaller than the other, so much so that I couldn’t use it, yet they were both marked as small. I’ve noticed through the years that they seem to have no uniformity in size or thickness. They’re constantly changing, sometimes to a small degree, and sometimes as not even fitting. I stay at the same weight so it’s not me.
I bought cheap wings diapers in bulk when I first became IC. Only $5 a case at the time, I thought I struck a deal! Might as well have just worn underwear… fell apart just from sweat a couple hours, never mind wetting.
Premium diapers are worth the money IMO. People tend to look at it as the cost per brief, but if you use higher quality, you use less briefs.
depends were terrible, 1 void and they leaked, however, the same can be said about any adult pullup diaper as well, and cloth backed store brands are not good eigther, ill say par on bad for them all
Seriously, though, back in the 80s I bought some cheap diapers at Kmart. They really amounted to underpads (chux) with the middle pinched together and glued. Imagine pulling an underpad between your legs and taping the corners together at your hips, and you’ll get the picture. They leaked spectacularly, they were uncomfortable, and I never, ever bought them again!
Huggies Pull Ups. Not Drynites, they are ok. But the toddler pull ups. No absorbency (because they are for potty training). Every other baby diaper I have tried is at least 10x better
Those were actually much better than the Depends of today!
Depends made a little comeback when they went back to plastic backed here awhile ago after going solely cloth backed which were horrible and leaked after even a mild wetting and also which “cloth like” coverings would easily tear when trying to fasten them securely.
The old green plastic Delends, especially the Depends Overnights were not that bad considering it was a diaper available at retail outlets and grocery stores.
I, for one, miss the green back Depends, as they actually held more than the Depends of today. Sure, they never were a premium diaper, but at least they were an available option at many locations. Today, you are hard pressed to find a plastic backed, even semi-effective diaper at WalMart or grocery stores. They have now all gone to pull-ups and the more discreet cloth type, which are half as effective.
Aww So Cute is a medium quality diaper, but a few years back they went from my top diaper to less than desired diaper after having multiple instances of quality issues. I had one order with most all of the diapers having only three tabs, two on one side and then only one on the other. Then another time something must have gone haywire in the manufacturing process where there was excess glue gunked around several areas on the diaper.
I really liked the purple aww so cutes, but I was less than impressed with their response when I sent them pictures and returned the unused diapers.
usually if a company screws up, they not only try to correct the problem, but make it up by giving you a better deal and perhaps not charging you as the fix the screw up. Here, I had the burden of not only sending pictures of the defects, but the cost of returning the defective diapers, only to have them replaced, without any compensation for my return costs and time of posting pictures and the like.
I hated the Abena M4s. Why? Because they’re BORING!!! I don’t care about capacity really. I want cute and they’re worse than Depends; the Abenas were cloth-backed so I couldn’t even cover them with stickers.
Reading this crushes my dreams and breaks my heart. Well, I’m not in it for the absorbency so much. I guess I’d rather have an adorable Mickey print and a little ‘accident’, than something plan and absorbent. At least most of the time.
