What is the worst thing that has ever happened to you?

For me it is probably breaking my foot (This week) or breaking my collarbone. I broke my leg when I was 2 but I don’t remember it. Tell us what the worst thing that has ever happened to you was and how it happened.

I broke up with the girl I dated for a year and thought I would end up marrying (ended up being one of the best things that ever happened to me but it didn’t feel that way for a long time)

Worst thing so far would have to be losing my (real life, biological) dad. That was about a year and a half ago. No need to go into detail on that, I expect.

Worst physical thing… I was on a neighborhood swim team when I was ten years old. During practice, the pool’s water treatment system malfunctioned and dispensed about 50 gallons of highly concentrated chlorine solution into the pool. I can remember seeing what looked like milk suddenly blasting out of every vent. Kids started screaming, and everybody rushed to get out of the water. I made it as far as the door to the restroom, vomited, passed out, and woke up in the emergency room. Turned out I was one of about two dozen teammates there. Two ended up on ventilators. No deaths–very luckily.

Of course, we were kids, too. The next time we all met, nobody wanted to talk about his or her brush with death. Instead it was, “Hey, did you see so-and-so’s little brother on the news? Luckyyyy! I wish I’d been on TV!!” Heh…

The death of my Mother. I’ve never felt pain - both physical and emotional - like it, before or since. I came within a hair’s breadth of taking my own life.

I can sympathise but when my parents were killed by a drunk driver it was the best thing that ever happened to me.

Being screwed into paying an $1800 debt, when the legitimate amount was $1100

I basically had to pay $700 on what I thought was gonna be a $10 mistake and that’s why I didn’t pay the debt in the first place

Second to that was Spraining my right hand and it being useless for over a Month afterwards

Similar feelings , but my Dad in a hospice slowly slipping away from prostrate cancer that was found to late , he died on my oldest brothers birth day and a month and half before he’s and my mums 40th wedding anniversary

Morbid question!! But At age 20 witnessing my best friend die in a car accident.

I broke my arm at summer camp a long time ago. I was trying to jump over a rope of chains.

Probably (sorry is this is TMI trigger warning:abuse)

I was 12 and my bio mom had a guy over, and he and her did drugs, I guess something fell through and she locked him out. And held me close, as he banged on the window trying to break it

she held me close and said “leave me alone my daughter is here” she used me as a shield, always did, that was the one of the times i realized I had to get away from her.

Worse thing in childhood was cutting open my eyelid on a branch of a bush while playing hide and seek. It happened a couple of days before my father’s work picnic

worse thing in adulthood being overseas in a country where they don’t want us and I don’t want to be there either and getting injured and needing back surgeries.
