That would hurt quite a bit.
My question is, which car were they in, and how was the dashboard pushed in so much, it can break bones like that.
Wow, that made me stop and think about putting my feet up on the dash again, at least while in a moving vehicle. Feel sorry for that person because they will never be the same in so many different ways.
Ouch. Putting your feet up on the dashboard turns out as un-hip.
Front end collision, and it wasn’t necessarily the dash coming towards the victim - the victim’s momentum towards the dash will do that sort of thing, too. This only covers the pelvis (showing a dislocated hip and broken head on the femur), but I’d be willing to bet that there’s even more damage in the ankles and lower leg.
The takeaway: it might look comfortable, but it’s a horrible idea to stick your feet up on the dash
It costs nothing to be safe always wear your seat belt and sit up straight. You don’t have to be scared but just try to reduce risk in the event you crash.
From time to time when I am driving or doing something that could bring injuries to me or others I try to think if am screwing around trying to do other things besides the actual activity what could go wrong. Maybe I have seen too many shows on accidents and overly paranoid but like I said costs nothing to be safe.
People can be lackadaisical, carefree and idiotic. Cops warn about this and nobody listens…at all. They put feet up on the dash, feet out the window, do whatever they want in their cars. As with all first-world ‘advanced’ cultures, we smugly think the worst will never happen to us, it will always happen to someone else.
The fact is, it has to happen to someone. And it does, to anyone. It doesn’t take much impact to do that damage, even if the person is belted. I don’t pity the victims fully as pity only goes so far; I only pity them to the extent that they’re going to both suffer from and regret that for the rest of their lives. They always do…just because of one bad call.
Life’s too short. We need to use our heads.
UGH! NO! Seriously!?
Some people can just be so careless and would not listen to any guide.
I’m sorry to be a questioning party pooper. I 'm not a Doctor, but I do know how to take x-rays and read a picture.
Two major points:
The hip bones are not fused.
That is either a very small child, or more likely then not looking at hip bone size to waist ratio, I would take a guess and say that is possibly a dog.
Airbags deploy at >200mph. They don’t care if your legs are in the way. So the momentum of the person moving forward plus the momentum of the airbag towards then would have been immense.
Egor, you always impress me with your knowledge.
