Update on cancer

Monday had my second mri and oncology appointment for Thursday. Went to oncology yesterday and went over the results of the mri and decided not to do surgery seeing the the tumor is close to C2 vertebrae and the carotid artery and had my first chemo treatment yesterday in which I was admitted to the hospital because they don’t want you driving afterwards (21/2hr drive home). I got discharged this morning at 8. I didn’t get home until almost 11 due to waiting for transportation until almost 0830. Cancer sucks, chemo sucks, nausea sucks and this constant headache sucks. I’m going to lie down and take a nap because I’m exhausted. Only four more treatments to go then another mri and blood tests

Sorry you are going through all of that. Get some rest and keep us updated. Stay padded and wishing you the utmost speedy recovery.

Thanks, I’m sleeping a lot and drinking a lot of power aid zero. I still have nausea and a little vomiting going on. Trying to eat crackers and staying hydrated downfall of staying well hydrated is needing to change more often. I don’t know how anyone endures chemotherapy treatments because they really wipe me out.

Hang in there. Keep focused on the end result which will make it all worthwhile.

I want to give my support as well. I have friends who have gone through this and they’re still alive and kicking, so hang in there. Is pot legal in your state as that can help with the nausea.

I finally was able to eat some solid food today my big first meal was 1 scrambled egg and a dry bagel which I ate 1/2 of the egg and part of the bagel. I was super happy to have held that down. As for everyone’s support I’m Truly grateful for your kind words and support while going through this difficult time

I just posted this in What do you want to get off your mind forum and decided to post it here also

I guess what’s on my mind is cancer (sarcoma) and chemotherapy that I can’t stand it seems the new norm for me is headaches and nausea. I hate that everything taste weird to me it either taste overly salty or has a tinny taste. When I cook dinner for the family the smell of the food makes me sick and I can’t eat. I wish the diarrhea would let up, if I eat anything other than scrambled eggs and toast or bagel I’m bound for the bathroom. So I’ll be happy once this is all over and I’m cancer free

I left a message on my health.va.gov to my urologist and oncologist about what I’m going through I swear the diarrhea is getting old I thought by now it would have let up. I had five accidents of diarrhea since chemotherapy started. I don’t like having to wear diapers but was grateful for them

Stay resilient. Try to take each new experience you get through this as a challenge where you still have leverage to turn things for the best. Each time you feel chemo is killing you, think that your sarcoma is getting hit much worse than all your other cells.

That alien intruder is your worst enemy and is usually much more efficient at replicating than your other cells, but with chemo you’re turning the tables on him and now that stuff is going to die faster than the rest of your body.

Let that thing suffer much worse than you do (and hopefully die) before it manages to kill you!

Hey Jason, I’m really sorry you are going through all of this… I don’t know what to say. I will pray for you and I hope you will be cancer free soon. You can always send me a message if you just want to release something. I wouldn’t mind. Big hug and stay strong! :kissing_heart:

Just had my third chemo treatment on Thursday spent the night in the hospital went home yesterday still feeling nauseous and headachy not as bad as the first two times. A new thing has developed it’s sort of weird to talk about am I your history you smell really funky so I contacted my oncologist yesterday at 1430 and got ahold of the nurse and told her that my urine smelled bad. She said that it can happen once the chemo builds up in your system that I was going to need to change more often I explained to her I’m already changing 3 times a day. I asked her how long will this last. I found out from our conversation that this can last a month or two past my last chemotherapy treatment that I need to stay hydrated and protect my skin at all cost and that they’re sending some medicated ointment to help combat any rashes that may appear I just need to throughly wash my hand after applying it. I still get tired easily and still have nausea and headaches. I will be happy when this is all over and hopefully I’ll be cancer free in January. I have MRI, CT scan and blood work the 12 of January

Stay strong Jason.

@jasonm03 - stay positive and hang in there, if your having trouble with lack of appetite, you may want to speak to your doctor about getting a prescription for cannabinoids, they can stimulate your appetite and help you keep food down so you get nutrients.
