"Started" managing Male Urinary Incontinence via a McGuire Male Urinal Device with 20-Ounce Drainage Bag Today...

The McGuire Type Male Urinary Device I ordered from AMAZON on Friday came today!

The McGuire Male Urinary Incontinence Device comprises:

1). A variant on a male “Jock-Strap” that has a round opening in front.

2). A latex rubber sheath which fits completely over the male penis shaft that “snaps in place” fitted through the designated hole in the Jock-Strap “holder”.

3). A plastic disposable “Collection Bag” to collect and store your expelled urine.

It is now 11:00 PM on Sunday, and I have been wearing and using my “new” Urine Collection System since 5:00 PM, for the past 6 hours this evening.

Yes.

I am physically seated in my wheelchair since then.

I jury-rigged a means of hanging the Urine Drainage/Collection Bag between my legs"below the seat" of my wheelchair.

Anyway, this is just an “Alternative” to sitting in my wheelchair in a “Drenched Adult Diaper”.

Hope this system works well for you!

Are you still wearing diapers or are you just trying this out?

I will try this male medical device, but I still need diapers for poop.

Catheters eek me out, you’re lucky you’re brave! Do they hurt? Are you used to catheters by now?

If you’d run a google you’d see this is a urinal collection device, as in a underwear shape in plastic, not a catheter.

I considered this myself for OAB but the retention problems made it impossible.

So basically it’s a more convenient method just like condom catheters but without requiring something with irritating glue.

But it is true that I was wondering about the stool problem too, this device isn’t exactly compact so it’s got to be a little tricky to put in a diaper and run the cable through the side without causing a kink

Sorry, didn’t realise it wasn’t a catheter.

Gotta try what works out best for us!

well it’s quite a nifty design if you think of it, since it doesn’t require painful insertion or glues which irritate the skin, you just wear it like underwear but belted and every accident goes in the drainage bag. I do wonder how efficient it is at draining large volumes because the urinal has only so much room for urine to build up in before it is all drained.

It’s also useful if your skin is damaged and in need of a “breather”.

I suppose its also a lot cheaper than having to buy diapers if you’re only urinary incontinent but I still prefer a diaper, much less cable hassle  I got a nasty rash on my leg last year from the catheter bag holders after 4 months, so glad that chapter is over

Anyway, I am trying this device out.

With it on, there can be no sexual activity.

Whatever works and makes life better.:blush:

That’s why I’m dividing to use diapers 24/7 when my Tena diapers come.

Deciding sorry

Anyway, I just concluded a 24 hour test of the McGuire Urinal System.

I’m

I’m curious what your opinion, findings, results are and if it’s actually as convenient as they describe. Also interested to know if it’s capable of not leaking when having a large pee (such as when pressure or tension blocks the sphincter and everything comes out when everything relaxes).

Do you think if it’s possible to use it for nighttime as well or are chances for leaks too great?

The physically weakest part of the McGuire Urinal System hardware is the fitting at the end of the latex penis sheath.

The threaded fitting can pop-away from the sheath.

The fitting connects the latex penis sheath to the drain tube that connects the Latex penis sheath to the drainage bag, which is placed on the inside of the lower left (or right) leg below the knee.

I wore the McGuire Urinal Device for 24 hours straigh, before putting a disposable diaper back on.

Depending upon fluid intake, you need to get up in the middle of the night to empty the urine collection bag.

How’s it working out, Caitianix?

It will be a sometimes use device.

I went back to diapers.

I much prefer a catheter I can control when the flow starts and not having to wear a wet diaper
