Sore Rear and Molicare Elastic Issues

Hi All

2 questions

Question 1 A bit T.M.I (sorry)

My rear end has been a bit raw since Saturday (Monday night here in Australia) as had indigestion issues so had numerous bowel movement trips to the toilet (I think I rubbed myself raw with Toilet Paper what can I do about this as still sore.

Question 2. Molicare Elastic

OMG I hate this crap and still have another box of 3 packets left they feel like sand paper anything to make them more comfortable?

Thank you

I ) You could use the shower to clean youre self down there after youre done. You also need to moisterize heavy

2 ) Same . I have Mollicare and i have (never had ) NO problems with them but i do mosterize heavy EVERY day. If this dont work you need to try some other brand im afraid BUT i would be willing to bank on if you mosterize heavy things will feel allot smoother

A sore, raw bottom is common with lots of bowel problems. I get that any time I have several BMs during the day. If your BMs seem hard or sticky, more fiber will often help. To help with the healing process, I tend to use a small amount of petroleum jelly. I use just enough to coat my anus - too much is uncomfortable for me and feels greasy. That helps protect the skin from any residual stool, and provides a little bit of lubrication for the next BM.

Another solution is a zinc oxide cream like Desitin. I tend to use the creamy type because the paste is thick and hard to spread. I hate the smell, though, so I don’t use that often.

I’ve had diapers with rough elastics, and I don’t have a good solution there. Perhaps you could try putting a piece of cloth medical tape over the elastic to cover the rough part, but I’ve never tried that so I don’t know how well it’ll work.

Lets try nr 2 again shall we ? I seem to missunderstood that question (bluching face )

What you can do is try to get them more on the said other piece so to say so there isent a gap between the paper that should be overlapping. and further down (ie not to close to the top of the paper ) Not shore the medical tape would stick. Lord knows i tried difrent tapes that dont

Reg lube i use both cheep mosterize cream as well as baby oil + as i suggested when had a BM big or small a bigger leak i use the shower to rince and clean after and then again moisterize . To much toilet paper / day and you will make youre butt sore thats a fact im afraid

Ok..

  1. Toilet paper is maybe not the best option to clean up if you have a skin problem. Better use wet wipes that are made for this (at last ph neutral). Also soup is not the best idea - clear water with a bit lemon juice is much better for cleaning.

  2. change as often as possible and if possible try to “air” it out. If I have such problems I use bed pads instead of diapers over night

  3. Barrier cream can help but this is mixed blessing. Petroleum and Silicon Oil (please use only W/O emulsion) tend to de-regulate the fat production of the skin and dry it out over the time what make thinks often even worse.

All O/W emulsion cause often problems with incontinence products because the destroy the hygroscopic effect of the non-wooven fabric and tend to block the pores of the skin.

  1. If it comes to a rough surface you may check out what’s the root-cause. Often it’s super absorber that went out of the fluff while production process and came bounded with the glue that fixes the non-wooden part. This can often be fixed by simply making it wet (e.g. with a wet wipe or just with a wet hand)

The Molicare… Ok… I understand your problem… I did’d had the feeling the they are “rought” but for me they behave like a plank and I found them very uncomfortable to wear. So I used the them only over the night and was luckily that I had only one package of them…
