I’ve read in a couple threads that Barnyards are supposedly scented. Yesterday, I tried my first Barnyard ever. The quality of the diaper is superb, but I noticed a distinct lack of scent. To me, they smell like plastic (albeit a nice—sorta sweet—smelling plastic). Actually, they are no different than my Tykables. (EDIT: upon closer inspection, the Rearz do smell a little sweeter)
Did I get a dud? Are they not supposed to be scented? Or, has Rearz stopped scenting them to reduce strain on alcohol demand (like ABU)?
I normally get my diapers unscented, so it’s not a big deal. However, I was sort of curious to know what the scent was like.
They kind of have a sweet-smelling plastic as you said. It’s not very strong but is definitely noticeable. I’ve never tried tykables so I couldn’t compare the two.
The scent is pretty subtle but I’ve noticed that if I compare them to a non-scented diaper that the barnyards do smell less like plastic and more sweet. In my experience wearing them, the more they’re used, the more noticeable the scent smell is. Maybe it’s activated by use or something?
I read something recently on a diaper company site where they said they were forgoing scenting due to COVID-19. something to do with wanting to free up the chemicals for necessary health products. I don’t remember which company site it was.
As part of our response to COVID-19 and the current need for alcohol around the world our scenting options have been suspended until further notice.
