Hi guys, I just wanted to ask you if it would be fine to wear a proper adult nappy to work as I have a overactive bladder and frequently have to us the restroom (in the morning most days I have to go every half an hour!) (I know, it’s such a pain!) I work as a home carer who visits elderly and disabled people and more often than not I either have to use every one of my clients toilets or if I’m nearby go home to use the toilet, I’m close to dancing for the toilet at that time, thankfully no other staff or seniour staff has noticed due to me not working with them very often because I travel from place to place and work by myself.
I wear at the moment either always descrete, Tena lady pants or I wear drynites but it only holds one wetting and I could easily be caught out again with the urge to pee and nowhere to go. For my uniform i wear black polyester trousers and a tunic which partially covers my butt. The question is how would a playdayz diaper/preschool work out because it kinda makes my butt look bigger and I’m self conscious BUT it really has helped me out! The problem is that it is not visible under clothing but I still think my bum looks a shade too big and I’m trying to work out a solution so I can wear them again to work so I can work comfortably and not be self conscious because I’m thinking in my head because I walk past school children going to school I’m going to hear one day “Mummy, that lady has a big bum!” Or “Mummy, why is that lady wearing a nappy?”
I don’t want to jepodise my job but I have worn a playdayz diaper at work when suddenly one of the office staff came to assess me during a moving and handling task at a clients house totally out of blue so I couldn’t prepare for it, it went well as she told me what me and the other person needed to work on (we have to have 2 staff members on certain clients due to moving and handling regulations) and talked to me normally about how I found each task and mentioned she wanted me to try out the other tasks and work on my confidence. She acted totally normal although I was concerned that she was noticing only because I thought my butt looked bigger! She never mentioned it in any further private supervisions meetings or had given me a funny look at all, but for some reason I thought I heard a snicker from her as I walking out of the office but she could of just as easily been clearing her throats as I don’t see her properly (I was wearing a descrete pull up)
So guys, what do you think I should do? What advice would you give to make me feel more confident at work in a adult diaper? I wish I could send a picture only to show you what I mean but I’m sure you do know what I’m on about!
Since you work in a Elderly Care Center, they should be the most understanding. Your job cannot fire you for a medical condition. As long as you aren’t drawing unneeded attention to yourself, you should be fine.
What is worse? Wet trousers or someone who finds out that you wear a diaper?
I have to wear protection since four years now, and some of my colleagues as well as my employer knows about my problem. The reason for this was simple: We had no bins in the stalls and I was not happy with the situation that I had to dump my used diaper in the open bins in the washing room. So I asked the representative for the disabled in the company if there will be is a way to change this - and they did. If you are afraid that someone will find it out believe me - normally no one will see it - even if you have a slightly bigger butt, because a) no one have no chance to compare it, and b) nobody have an interest to do so. If someone really find it out it is ignored or the reaction is compassion.
How ever - if you have this problem you have to learn to cope with it. This also means to develop a good deal of self-confidence in dealing with the problem. I never tell someone about my problem if there is no need to but I’m aware and prepared that situation exists where people will find out that I have this problem. The most prominent situations for this are leaks, sleepovers and airports. Leaks can be avoided to 98% with right protection and by changing early enough. For airports, sleepovers, and other situations like this, I learned not to care, because I can’t change it anyway so I accept it as “normality“.
Have you seen a doctor about your OAB issues? If not, you should.
As for wearing a diaper at work, nobody is going to notice, and if they do, nobody is going to care. I agree with others that you should wear a medical diaper, though, not an AB-themed diaper, at least during work hours.
I’ve always had OAB since I was a child and I’ve always wet and messed myself (my parents used to punish me a lot), since then it had calmed down to the point where accidents are less but I still need to dash to the toilet a lot. I use the toilet around every half an hour in the mornings and then it slows down to every 1-2 hours late on, as for my bowels I’m lucky because I poop in the toilet in the morning every morning without fail before I get dressed so there is no risk of accidents there! (Thank God!) I literally know no better about my frequent urination since I’ve always had to put up with it and i was quite shocked when I found out that normal people use the toilet around 4-8 times a day because I go usually around 12 or more times a day! And that people are expected to hold their bladders for 2-4 hours! That’s impossible in my eyes!
The playdayz/preschool diapers are not considered thick and are not thick, as for the prints, it only has prints on the landing strips rather than all over prints.
My job doesn’t know about my incontience/OAB because I wouldn’t mention it unless absolutely nescessary and on a need to know basis due to the sensitive nature of it all, one of my clients is incontient and is absolutely laid back and accepting of her needing to wear diapers but of course I’ve not mentioned it yet.she even refers to her incontience products as nappies!
I guess my problem is being self conscious and the fear of being found out, but it does seem like not everybody is staring at people’s butts all day, to me the diapers isn’t glaringly obvious under clothes but I notice a size difference in my butt, I guess nobody Is going to think “diaper”.
It’s definitely interfering with my work and one or two of my clients have commented on my frequent urination, I’ve told some of my coworkers about my frequent urination and said I had a overactive bladder and when I told them about how many times I need to go to the toilet in the morning they seemed suprised! I was only asking because I wanted to see if this was normal or not, one or my clients I work with holds her bladder for around 6 hours!
when I’m at work I generally use pull ups as I am a mechanic , I’m in overalls which helps keep everything in one place , my boss knows the customers know , and iv learned to live with the fact I have to wear pull ups from time to time (not all the time but when I have to it’s messy ew ), it was embarrassing at first but it is what it is.
it’s getting pretty chilly in the uk now so pull ups can lock the heat in Abit , ad added function boom , life hack
I have this exact issue I also wear a onesie over the top of my nappy to hide it even more. However my tena night pants work great for one wetting maybe or two but I’d much rather some ABU Preschools (cloth backed so they don’t make noise!) however they make my ass look deformed and I bend over a lot for work!
well I suppose so , although I have had a customer & and a parts delivery driver both woman pat me on the butt ( not at the same time ) when I’m bent over a car. not realizing they we’re there. lucky I wasn’t doing something drastic. both times , but I talk to them both claimly and said that if the tables were turned and I did the same to you what would you do ?
they both new I would wear pull ups from time to time , I swear one of them was feeling for it
Where a good quality diaper not the thin stuff. Personally I like to use Tykables for work lately since they can be retaped for using the bathroom (assuming I can make it) and that they have good quality tapes. (personally a prefer all white diapers but Tykables are still great to use for features (minus the print stuff).
I’m a young person (22 year old woman who is quite slim) so I’m quite concious about how I look as I still want to look half decent at my age. I’ve tried the diapers under jeans and they look less obvious under jeans (I don’t wear skinny jeans).
I obviously don’t want to be a skinny person with a out of proportion sticking out bum! I guess that it’s just going to have to be this way though, I’m definitely thinking about wearing the diapers again to work but later on in the fatenoon switching to the pull ups again since the frequency calms down a bit. Although today this afternoon, I’ve still gone to the toilet for a wee a lot, I’m wondering whether or not I should just let go into my pull ups because it’s getting a pain in the backside having to get up to use the bathroom (I’ve gone to the toilet today way more than the standard 8 times a day! I think I’ve gone double that today or getting up to 20 times, although I don’t usually keep a chart on how many times I use the bathroom in a day!)
I had worn molicare , they held alot could be an option but there not very flattering.. and don’t have any pattern or anything. and there pull ups the ones I had.
