Road trip!

Hey everyone! Who else wears when going on a road trip? What tips do yall have for changing when needed?

Whenever I go on long journeys I wear high absorbency nappies with two booster pads. They’re bulky but offer maximum security and peace of mind. Carry spares in a rucksack with plastic bags to dispose of them discreetly and use disabled toilets where possible

I’ve worn on road trips In past and it really helps less stops unless you need too fuel up or get a bite too eat or stretch the legs but other than that being padded up for road trips is the best

I love long road-trips, but the need to be discrete around wife and kids has so far stopped me from going diapered. Some day, perhaps!

While traveling, be prepared to use higher capacity diapers that can handle wettings while sitting down. I bring a backpack with needed supplies into either rest areas, gas stations, and fast food places.

Private restrooms are the best, but be prepared to deal with changing in stalls with people possibly next to you. Sometimes, you just have to embrace it and get it done with. That’s probably the biggest hurdle I encounter but I’m getting more and more accustomed to it. Know that you aren’t the only one, and yes, I have heard others changing before too.

If you are traveling with others, don’t let them have close access to your bags!

I’ve never done this but now I am wondering why not! Next road trip ill have to try wearing diapers…no concerns about where the next rest stop is!

My husband/ little loves wearing on long road trips, I myself have considered it as I do have a small bladder but that’s a whole different issue. As far as changing, the back of our truck has a tinted camper shell so changing is pretty easy.

that is awesome!

I wear the best n most absorbent diaper I can on road trips. I sit on a diaper mat on the front seat while driving. When I travel, I travel on long strips of highway and restrooms are very far n in between. I’m incontinent and have a bladder the size of a peanut so a big heavy absorbent diaper is best along with pants that have an elastic waist.

I wear all the time on road trips. Whats nuts is that some public roadside restrooms don’t have stalls. I change anyway.

I am not planning on going on any road trips, but I would wear diapers on one of them.

when I drive on road trips depending where I’m going I’ll some times do it in just a diaper

I was diapered for our road trip a few days ago. we had a diaper bag packed and found a quiet restroom when I needed to change. The worst part was being a guy walking into a bathroom with a diaper bag. Luckily we found a quiet spot so no one saw me.

I’ll wear heading out on a road trip (to relatives etc) but not use because changing is challenging when you’re a guest at someone’s house.

Headed back home is another story entirely, first thing I usually have to do when I get home is change because I’m soaked by then.

My tips:

Get a backpack that you can put your changing supplies in. Rash cream, gloves, wipes, powder, disposal bags (cheap bathroom sized bags from dollar tree). Antibacterial wipes to wipe down areas like toilet seats, sinks and counters, hand sanitizer. My last thing in the stash, an over the door hook… no all stall floors are clean to set your bag on, no all doors have a hook either.
Backpack Needs to have room for your diapers you need to change into. Always take 2 diapers in with you… you never know when one will rip, or a tape come off, etc..
Expect to have to change anywhere and everywhere. You won’t be able to lay down to change so learn how to do it standing up
Get in the mindset ‘I wear diapers, i always wear them, changing them is normal and has to be done when and where needed’

I’ve found that they don’t help a ton from a practicality standpoint just because my car can go about 400 miles on a full tank, which comes out to about 5-6 hours of driving and I can definitely hold it that long. That said, I still enjoy wearing them for road trips so that I don’t have a seatbelt pressing on a full bladder for the last little bit before we stop for gas.

  • Practice the standing up technique so that you can change in the restroom (with a little bit of coordination you should be able to do it without the use of a wall to lean on).

  • Always have two diapers in your changing bag in case of a malfunction

  • Remember that getting noticed matters even less here than it does elsewhere. You’re far from home and incredibly unlikely to ever see any of those people ever again, and a good portion of them would probably be thinking “diapers on a road trip? What a good idea” anyway.

  • Don’t change on the side of the road unless it’s an actual emergency. It’s not worth the risk of Officer Jackass having a bad day and deciding to take it out on you.

I double up on my pull-ups. I cut about 8 slits in the outer lining of the inside diaper so any overflow beyond its capacity is absorbed by the outer diaper. We make a 15 hour drive 4 times a year and it always works fine. If the trip is only 7 or 8 hours, I don’t need, or want, to double up.
