I love watching online content, YouTube videos, etc that have to do with prepping. I’m of the opinion that everyone should be prepared in whatever way possible for unforeseen events and emergencies!
I was reading an article online which spoke in regards of personal prepping. Having enough water & food stocked away is of course important but what about other things? Items like personal medications, spare eye glasses or contact lense supplies, etc and the list of possibilities was endless and then I started laughing but then I thought…
Yah, ok but wait a minute! I stopped because there was a serious part of that whole, “be prepared!” mantra that got me to thinking.
What about ab/dl items? A medical expert in this article made reference to the fact that a huge contingent of the populous take medications for psychological issues and how important it is to keep an emergency stock of those items. If one is dealing with significant stress due to a stressful situation that could be long lasting (i.e.) S.H.T.F. for folks in this community it certainly raises an interesting question doesn’t it?
We may take for granted that we have fairly easy access to those specific items we want or need, things which we have a strong need or desire to possess, that we can get ahold of by placing a quick online order but what about after a serious widespread crisis has unfolded?
No, I am absolutely not a Doomsday Prepper! There has to be more to life then constantly sitting around waiting and wondering how life as we know it might end but I for one never ever considered what would happen to paying attention to or satisfying that specific state of mind when you have absolutely nothing to regress or play with!!
If for instance one is dealing with real documented or potentially upsetting psychological or psychiatric issues in their life which require medication to maintain their health then of course that would be needed regardless of whether it’s a normal day or a massive grid down, societal collapse kind of thing. The need is still there! Not that I’m attempting to make a comparison between the whole spectrum or mental and emotional issues and the whole ab/do thing but as I was sitting there reading the article, I thought, it raises an interesting issue. Some people who struggle with these types of issues find great comfort in ab/do activities because it helps to provide balance and stability. …
Doesn’t it mean that whilst one preps with aspirin, cans of spam, water, first aid and an assortment of other items, that we’d want to prep for a shortage of ab/dl specific items as well?
I guess it’s time to find a good hiding spot, stock away a few 12 packs and other goodies, seal the box with tape and label it “GRID-DOWN – EMERGENCY USE ONLY! ….and plenty of canned goods!
