Pre owned clothing

I own a lot of school girl uniforms, which are real uniforms own by school, but buying them new is really expensive, so i look on ebay and other online shops where people sell stuff for school uniforms.

So i was wondering for the people who also buy pre owned clothing (mostly crossdressers) do you ever think about the person who used to own the clothes and what they might think about them being worn by a “boy”.

I do sometimes, as i would think “this dress was worn by a girl to school and now i wear it as casual wear”

One time the girls name was written on the tag of the dress and i looked her up on facebook as i match her name with the last name on the sellers postage. I felt really creepy and ashamed that i did. I didnt contact her, it was mostly to put a face to a name, which was also pointless as her profile photo was pikachu. Lol

But yeah does anyone every think about what kinda life a person lead from buying preowned stuff?

The nice thing about wearing used clothes is that it was worn by a woman before. Now I’m in a long lounger dress a woman wore while she was doing projects. There are spots of glue on it. I also like used Night gowns.

You can find some great stuff used. I guess my stuff is about 50/50 (I’m not trans but I do love to crossdress some time).

I have a mix of stuff that I got from a mix of eBay and thrift stores (Goodwill, Salvos, etc…). I do also like shopping new (particularly in a store where I can try things on).

Things I’ve bought used: Three wedding dresses, several bridesmaid dresses, a sort of period dress with hoop skirt, and various others.

Things I’ve bought new: Cheerleader uniform (custom), School uniform jumper, lots of other dresses, all my lingerie.

I’d never thought of trying to find the previous owners. I felt a bit awkward buying one of the wedding dresses. The woman who was selling it didn’t clear the reserve (it was a $1000+ dress). She ended up selling it to me for $100 (came with the crinolines too). The only downside is I can’t get into it without assistance.

I don’t think that’s glue…

JK, don’t take it serious

To be honest?

I’ve never thought about where the clothing I get rid of goes to. Not once.

Although if a ‘boy’, as you put it, could fit them and liked them, good for them. I hope they get many years of use out of something I didn’t want anymore.

Most of my ripped jeans are second hand and I got them for free and also some cheerleader briefs, shorts pants and sneakers too. The granddaughter of the lady where I share accommodations gave me some stuff that her cheerleader mates don’t need them anymore.

As someone who was/is (store closed temp due to covid) in the thrift business I’ll tell you YES! I’m a psychic intuitive so YES from my position items like clothing and jewelry especially hold the energy of the former owner.

While I love thrift shopping, I am always extremely careful to cleanse the items physically and spiritually before wearing.

This sounds to me like you felt the girl’s sweet loving energy & it effected you greatly.

That’s not a bad thing if it’s lovely energy like that & it’s actually very sweet it caused this reaction in you

I know I am not a sissy myself but I am a lover of them so just another perspective to consider

If you ever come across anything with bad Juju toss a cup of white vinegar in the wash to be rid of it (old Hoodoo trick)

One of the best parts about Pre-Owned clothing is getting a SIZING education on the cheap side.

Yeah the best thing ive learn from sizing is a size 16 could also be a 14 or an 18, and when it comes to Asian sizes the more "x"s before a “L” the better

I would say it more of a life energy as what life did this dress have before me, sometime i can tell by how the clothes smell from opening the package, a nice clean flowers smell tell me happy life, a cigarette smell tells me a bad one

Very true when you buy groceries (produce) there is the cavet to WASH BEFORE USING (EATING) so when buying that charm

piece of used previously owned thrift clothing if it smells funky wash or dry clean before wearing.

I have been impressed with the eBay sellers taking care to sell their used clothing washed scented*** and gift wrapped.

*** sometimes scented too much but that comes out in a wash - it was the thought !

Isn’t it absolutely ridiculous! Men can go by say, 36/32 and from those numbers achieve fairly close results when shopping for bottoms…For women it’s a HOT MESS! You have misses, women’s and junior cuts that even the most seasoned shoppers find difficult to navigate :triumph:

Here are some tips I have learned:

If it’s an odd number like a size 13 or 15 its a junior size. That means zero room for ass or hips (let alone gut). In actuality these sizes would probably work well for M2F dressing, because, most male bods are teeny in the rear, hip & thigh (upper body larger ect).

If the garment has a big “W” next to the size, 16W for example, it is a women’s size. It will be wider cut in the hips & thigh.

Then we have petite sizes for those vertically challenged or just short legged. This cut will have a “P” next to the size to indicate. It will also be used in conjunction with “W” , as in size 16WP. (Sighs)

Now this is just pants and jeans!

Dress sizes are completely different all together, especially formal gowns.

And haha anything from China you better get the largest size available & from my experience an Asian size 5X is maybe a US size Large at best

I used to be a clothing reseller for plus size women and taught many how to find their perfect size & cut through all the bullshit!

I hope this post helps someone

I have previously posted what you have here noted here in other forums.

One rule of thumb for those newly in search of misses clothing is the Rule of 20.

Take the misses size (in even increments) and add 20 to it for the approximate INCH MEASUREMENT of the garment.

I.E. size 14 = a 34 (waist)

The rule works for most misses sizing and even some juniors.

That is all good and fine for the Waist - “BUT” wait here - - -

Where is that WAIST - be it a the navel (belly button) or higher EMPIRE just at the bottom of the BRA band ?

Maybe the waist is just an inch or two south of the navel - HIGH Waist -

Moving on down a bit further and you have the MID-RISE waist (common for most misses clothing) -

Then the almost final last hurrah where London britches are falling down off the HIPS - the LOW waist at the hip line.

Now as regards the HIPS for women the difference between the waist and the hips can be as little as a few inches

or as more than 10 inches (think bubble butt) - at this point this is where fitted clothing takes a curve that are real

obstacles to men wearing women’s clothing - it is no longer a matter of does this make me look fat but more in

the range of frumpy lumpy - pardon the saying from the 40’s - two hips like two battleships !

With guys wearing women’s wear (dresses exception) if it does not tuck in fit snuggly at the waist it is not going to fit right !

The MAIN FACTOR in all this new as well as pre-owned clothing is "IT IS THE MEASUREMENTS ‘STUPID’ - like the

carpenter’s rule measure twice and cut once" The measurements can be in inches or centimeters (2.54 cm to the inch)

either way demand the measurements or NO DEAL. Watch out for those foreign Asian measurements where there is

this statement “Measurements manual 2-3 centimeters difference” ! Look for the sellers sizing charts and compare these

to yours and pad those by another size i.e. Size 14 = 34 = an Asian size 5x (or at the very minimum a 4x).

In doubt always inquire (ask the question) ?

Another cavet is the Asian Chest (bust) Waist Hips relationship does not match the full figure US women !

It is a real challenge even for the custom order clothing - alterations can fix some of this but that is extra cost.

Another rule of thumb you can make a large item of clothing smaller but not the reverse - even that is limited !

My major problem is my chest (band size) is too big for the proportions of many outfits. Usually, the waist/hips in the stuff I like is plenty full enough. You kind of get used to it after a while. Juniors are not going to fit me well. Women’s will probably be fine but usually less interesting. The fun one is XL is a definite different size than 1X in many lines.

Trying on is almost an imperative. I actually enjoy going to the stores and trying things on. I get reactions from indifference to definite curiosity as to why I’m shopping in that department.

It’s weird how there’s a double standard. I shop in the guys section and no one gives a poop. A guy shops in the ladies section and everyone loses their minds and starts gossiping about it. :stuck_out_tongue:

I got sick of having ‘stupid jeans’ from the ladies section. With tiny short pockets that can’t hold anything. Or even just outright FAKE ones. So I used my work uniform as a size guide and bought a couple pairs of good jeans from the men’s section. They fit me the way I like them to and have pockets for DAAAAAYS. (But I am a girl who doesn’t like things showing off body parts. So skin-tight butt-hugging jeans are a definite NO.)

Back when I crossdressed - I really cba with it right now…though some of the steampunk stuff looks great and could get me doing it again - I bought any used clothes from my friend Catt. We had similar tastes, and wore the same size. Most of what I had was new. When I got rid of it - every item seemed to have shrunk in the wash…- I gave it to charity shops, and hoped that whoever bought it, regardless of gender, got some pleasure from the clothes.
