Pamper's Baby Fresh / Sweet Dreams Scent found in the wild, and a bump for using foaming cleanser

I’ve always been extremely fond of the old Pampers brand Baby Fresh / Sweet Dreams scent that was featured in their diapers and wipes prior to about 2018. Since then, their wipes have smelled like sour apples and chemicals. It was awful. I still have a case of those new wipes that I struggle to get through because the scent is just terrible and I don’t want to smell like sour apples. I love them, but I don’t want to smell like them.

Most of you are probably not aware, but there was a nationwide recall on a TON of DermaRite products including PeriFresh, which is the perineal foaming cleanser I prefer over wipes during changes. Dermarite PeriFresh has a pretty standard tutti-fruti-fresh sort of scent, which is just fine. I like it. But, I was unable to order a refill this week when I noticed my gallon jug is almost out (I buy a gallon for ~20$ and it last me a year filling refillable bottles).

So I researched a suitable replacement. I found McKesson Perineal cleanser which is about the same price and will do the same job. I was apprehensive to order it because I wasn’t sure what scent it would have. I got a gallon of the purple fresh scent in today, and I’ll be damned, it smells EXACTLY like Pampers Baby Fresh / Sweet Dreams.

I wanted to share this with everyone because I know people really love this scent like I do - if we keep buying this, they’ll keep making it! Seriously, ditch the wipes and try a foaming cleanser and paper towel… you’ll be surprised how well it works! I feel so much cleaner.

I love the smell from the 80's when the diapers were double folded on each side. They leaked like no other but the smell. So is there anything out there right now that is close or exact to that smell?

I’m like 99% sure this is a perfect match! I had to do a quadruple take / whiff when I opened the jug. I was ecstatic! I actually put a small dab on my hoodie sleeve just to keep smelling all day, lol. I’m convinced this is it.

I am confused, the Pampers original scent left the market in 1990 and never returned. Does this new product smell like that, or the reformulation referred to in 2018 above?

I’m willing to give it a shot. Been longing for this scent since the early 90’s. I just bought the smaller bottle of the same stuff off ebay, for $6. Now, the wait begins. If this turns out to be that scent, I’ll definitely consider buying the large bottle.

It’s whatever scent that they had up until around 2018. That’s the only scent I’ve ever known them to have prior to the new one, going back at least to the early 00’s.
