My last order of MegaMax my be my last. The diaper is way too stiff. It’s like having cardboard between your legs. I questioned was it always like this? No, I had a couple extra left over from previous batch and they were WAY more comfortable. This is extremely disappointing as these were the one diaper which fit me perfectly.
I’ve noticed the tapes are also not what they used to be, they are extremely sticky making it impossible to pull off after attached, ripping off the glue from the tape itself.
is anyone experiencing what I’ve noticed of recent with these?
If the new ones are more dense than the older batches, that would be a plus. Sure, some may be uncomfortable. But I prefer something that’s a bit more “stiff” because I know it will have better absorbency. I guess I’ll have to try a pack and see.
Yes, Stiff = more dense = good absorbency but in the back it’s way more noticeable now where the diaper bunches between the legs, it sticks out. When wearing in public under shorts it’s totally obvious where as before sitting in my car in my way to the store was enough to flatten that out.
A while back I ordered some Supremes which also have the same issue of extreme stiffness, but they came with a sample of MegaMaxes, and strangely enough, not only did I not have any issues with stiffness, I felt the tapes were just sort of okay: they worked fine, but I felt they weren’t any different than other tapes of their kind…one of them kind of stopped sticking after a while. Maybe you got a weird batch? Maybe I got a weird batch? Who knows?
Yeah, I personally find them to be waaay better and have become one of my go toos…absorbency is great and I only have issues with the tapes at night where one of the tapes always rips from the backing
For the stiffness, try opening the diaper fully, and then folding it in half lengthwise, then unfold it and fold it widthwise. I’ve. ever had that problem, but I did notice a difference between my last order and my current order.
Well, I know for a fact that the tapes are acting a bit odd; I sometimes feel like I’m stuck in one after wearing one for a few hours, but eventually forcing the tapes off causes the glue to just be gone from that tab entirely!
Thankfully, it doesn’t seem to be yanked off when I’m just first putting it on, so adjusting it a bit still seems possible. As for the stiffness and cardboard-ness of the MegaMax, I suppose it might be a bit bad for being discreet, but for me, I don’t think I’ve noticed it too much.
Thanks for the feedback and the comments. I guess it’s primarily just me not caring for the heightened stiffness of the new batches. :man_shrugging_tone2:
Same here where the tapes separate from the backsheet! I’ve had the adhesive issue too, but it’s not as important for me as once my diaper goes on, it stays on until I need a change. But it’s the worst when the tape rips off in the day and it forces you to waste a half used diaper!
In terms of the"new version", it’s 100x better than when the factory downgraded the quality of everything. Thicker plastic, more absorbency, thicker padding, better quilting, better leak guard placement, better landing zone, this would be a perfect diaper if they fixed the tapes!
Megamax’s have for a long time been one of my absolute favorite diapers! I am in no way a spokesperson for Northshore but I do seem to have a lot of success letting the diapers poof out by having them out of the pack for extended periods. Also a little fluffing before wear can make it a better fit as others have said
I would suggest opening a new bag and setting them out on your shelf on their side, making sure to leage them room to get thicker over time. Just setting out a few days is usually enough to fluff them up on their own. Just plan ahead and make sure you’re not needing to pull compressed ones right out of the bag for wear. Make sure if your shelf is about empty that you get another bag open and relaxing so they’re “ready for use” when you need them.
