Nintendo

I saw a fb post recently about Nintendo not having voice chat and that’s causing question amongst the people.

Why??

Why is it so hard to understand that they don’t want the toxicity and Legal problems that come with voice chat?

are the Xbox and PlayStation game chats not enough of a bad example?

someone tried to fight me on Nintendo’s decision but fails to understand Voice Chat isn’t a Right, it’s a Privilege by the provider and Nintendo wants no part of the toxicity.

I put it as simply: It’s much easier to get co-operation out of players when one of them isn’t screaming about banging your mom or trying to insult you the entire session.

Or making racial slurs.

you know, every game has an option to mute toxic players or just turn off the whole chat. removing the chat for everyone is a dick move

I understand Nintendo’s perspective, but the lack of voice chat—in my opinion—makes for a less enjoyable user experience.

I wish they’d compromise, like only allowing chat between friends. It could be similar to the Switch app, but without the app.

well think of a time you would use it often, most of Nintendo’s switch games are single player

Well, I would have used it a lot. My most-played game is Splatoon 2.

For me, the issue isn’t whether Nintendo should allow chat or not — they already do through the app. I’m more or less annoyed that they didn’t just integrate it into the system.

Legal problems come with it, remember most voice chat programs require people to be over 13 before chatting online, they restrict it to an App to lessen the chance some kid gets into more than they bargain for.

it’s an anti-lawsuit movement to keep Nintendo out from under the bus of the hellish nightmare of lawsuits from kidnappings and other such things

That’s a fair argument. Chat or no chat, I hope we can at least agree that Switch is a great console.

If you have a V2 it has a more efficient battery than the V1, but if you bought your Switch a while ago it’s a V1 with the less efficient Battery (I think mid or late 2019 they started selling the V2)

If you have a V2 there really ain’t much you can do if you still dislike the battery life

Oh I know I’ve got a V1 lol and I don’t feel like trading it in, The battery isn’t Fucking Horrendous but it’s Mildly inconvenient.

I get you, I had a V1 for a while, then I found out within a year of getting it they made the V2 with the more efficient battery

I wouldn’t have upgraded to the V2 just for the more efficient Battery (although it is nice)

But I ended up selling my last Switch only to get a new one (Animal Crossing Edition) under 3 weeks after selling it

I would have waited to get a new one, but I knew when I saw the Animal Crossing Edition on the Shelf (think it came in that day or maybe the night before) I knew I had better buy one or I would probably never have one unless I bought from a reseller at an over $100 upcharge

I’ve actually never had a Special/Limited Edition console, and many hardly seem special outside of a different color than usual for the Shell of the system

If Black is normal, special colors might be White, Red, Blue; etc, doesnt really seem like they should be limited in those cases

I’m rather impressed by what the Switch can do and the variety of games they have on offer; but if its Multiplatform I tend to buy it for my PS4 Pro as it runs at higher specs, but the Switch versions look good too.

Versatility in gaming in so nice, not being restricted to where you can play

Ironic that Sony could have had the success the Switch had with their PSP and later on the Vita, but they made a lot of stupid mistakes that killed their potential for Success
