Id like to know peoples opinions on wich is the best diaper when it comes to capacity and wicking. I know personally that Crinklz tends to have pretty good wicking. The only problem I have with Crinklz is that the padding is not very squishy when wet and also the front of the diaper is a bit awkward compared to most diapers.
I have heard L4B diapers are pretty good at wicking. Though I have tried the little trunks from L4B and find the qaulity of the plastic is highly lacking. They almost feel like tissue paper diapers lol. Im looking for a diaper thats good in the wick department but can also hold a ton and squish to boot.
Ive actually been eyeing the alpacas. I just used up all of my Barnyards and saw it had the same capacity and also a very cute design. I assume its the same cut as the barnyards diaper but with a different design. Do they have velcro tapes as well?
You also mentioned dino. Do you mean Dino elites? How are those in terms of wettings? Do they hold up well or leak if you flood them or wet them after they are already wet?
I did use up a pack of Barnyards. Super soft diaper!
Alpacas have adhesive tapes. I actually prefer tapes over velcro. Rearz list them as “our thickest diaper”. I love them!
Ya Dino Elites. The Alpacas are notably thicker while wearing them. Especially after a night with a MegaMax! The Dinos and Alpacas definitely hold up well with multiple wettings for me. I’m male and wear almost exclusively at night so position is very important. That being said I have come close to leaking while in bed but usually that’s because I’m not lined up center.
Barnyard 100% - I’m surprised rearz hasn’t released more prints for this diaper yet. It’s my nighttime diaper and 100% reliable, comfy, and perfect fit with the Velcro tapes
Barnyards and Dinosaurs are the same base diaper, just with different designs and tapes. So the Dinosaurs should hold up wetting-wise just as well as Barnyards, except perhaps differences in how the different tapes prevent sagging and loosening.
You folks like your disposables but it’s hard to beat the wicking ability of cloth. Like the first time that you leave a corner of cloth sticking out just a bit under the elastic of your plastic pants and the cloth wicks nearly every bit of liquid onto your bed. That’s the last time that happens as the next time you check for exposed cloth. I’ve only tried maybe a dozen different disposables and settled on Abena M4’s. I wear them occasionally when I’m away from home but they don’t wick up the front or the back nearly as well as cloth. Stay padded, just don’t wet your wick from both ends.
Honestly I thought you were out of your mind, but I looked and well… the numbers don’t lie!
I tried barnyard but never could get much use out of them before they leaked. It must have been a problem with how I was taping the velcro? I’ve been working my way though a case of dino elite here recently and they’ve been outstanding performers, and can wet them all the way to the back of the padding with no leaks. Weird!
i still think the plastic backed Molicares are the best at wicking from top edge to back edge, a really quite efficient pad, but they will fall apart, so I guess would benefit from a booster. It seems to me that “wicking” is often confused with what the sites like Save Express call “suction” . Suction is how fast the pad can absorb fluid. Better Dry for example have excellent suction, but you will have to fully saturate the front before any fluid will move towards the back half.
I used to wear the Better Drys/Crinklz brand. They held a fair amount and were the best at wicking as any diaper that I had tried. Most diapers just swell and pretty much just stay in the middle. On the other hand the Better Drys were great at dispensing the wettness to the whole diaper. That might sound good but there is a down side. They would wick so good that they would begin to leak out the top. Not a good thing. I ended up not wearing them any more after I ran out.
The ability to distribute liquid evenly. Kind of like when you touch the tip of some paper towel to something wet and the wetness climbs up and spreads out on the paper towel
The best wicking disposable for me is the Molicare plastic. Unfortunately the capacity is not brilliant so I use a booster with it, and only wear it when I haven’t drunk a lot of fluid in the evening. Best for comfort and tape retention.
All other times I use Betterdry which have far superior fluid retention. However, they never wick well to the rear unless I use a booster as a “bridge”.
The Molicare Slip Maxi and Abena L4 (which were considered among the best before the crazily high capacity AB/DL nappies came on the market) are the best for wicking even though they are now considered medium capacity at best.
