I mean yea we’ve got lots of really decent diapers out there now. But can we get a high sap diaper that has enough pulp to actually wick and use that sap?
It does seem to be a trade off doesn’t it?
Yesterday I thought I’d test a few of nappies to destruction. The Betterdry lasted nearly all day and was swollen like a bowling ball before it leaked, but there was still dry padding in the back.
The similar looking but lower capacity Formacare Easy Slip (which can only take 2 or 3 full-on wettings) used literally all the padding front to back before leaking.
A happy medium for me is the Abena L4, but that is a medium capacity nappy.
Yep it’s a tradeoff. There are some types of SAP that wick better, and some types of pulp that hold better, but overall it’s a tradeoff. If you get too much sap then wicking becomes a problem and you’ll leak out the front/middle while still having dry padding in the back.
If you want both, it usually means the padding is going to be really thick because there’s a much larger amount of pulp overall.
I don’t care if the diaper is 2” thick, as long as it’s got the pulp to function properly
A 2 inch thick diaper? I’ll take a case!
