IBS or Celiac Disease

Hello everyone,

Im wondering if there are some people who suffer from IBS or Celiac Disease that would like to talk. I have some questions leading up to my appointment.

Thanks in Advance,

I been diagnosed with Irritable bowel syndrome as of early last year. Have to take medicine for it nearly every night and I’m especially sensitive to certain foods such as those with heavy amounts of oils or milk content.

It’s not surprising to see me with imodium in my pocket if you know what I mean. Oddly enough car vibrations make it much worse and if I’m having a spell I cant go in the car at all

Thank you. For that last year or so I’ve had multiple episodes where I almost didn’t make it to the toilet and had really, really bad diarrhea. This is like no notice, bam, get to the toilet. I’m also really gassy, my stomach always makes very loud noises and I’m frequently bloated. I have abdominal soreness a lot. So I’m wondering if this could be IBS. I also ready have a condition with my esophagus and upper GI. I guess I’ll contact my doctor.

Talking to the doctor is truly the best option as there are multiple tests that can be performed and medicine that can be prescribed that is stronger than what is off the counter. I too have the bloating issue and I tend to also have the pain and issues tend to multiply in the evening and night hours. Sometimes its followed by having to take pepto almost first thing in the morning and causes some sleep trouble

To me it sounds like you might definetly have IBS (i share most of those problems ) BUT as been said only doctor can make that diagnose so time to see the docs and get checked up id say

i have the similar type of problem , but I got runny eyes , puffy eyes , sneeze continuesly through out the day , and get very hot in a shot space of time like 1-2mins of sneezing. I just stopped having any dairy at all. checking all packaging for dairy additive , and used low cal oil. it’s definitely slowed to nothing (the ibs ) sometimes I get attacks due to not reading the back of a package where I didn’t see it had an ingredient , damn I miss cheese…:frowning2:

it could be worth going down that path just point blank stop eating any dairy and use alternatives.?

Sounds more like a food allergy. I gave to say dairy free coconut oil ice cream is my jam

I agree. Time to see the doc and get tested for possible allergies id say on that one

Thanks for all the responses. When I first received my diagnosis of eosinophilic esophagitis, my doctor complete did an entire panel of allergy tests. They all came back negative for food allergies.

I guess the next logical step is to have a conversation with my doctor and see what he thinks.

Do you wear because of IBS?

I understand that. My urologist diagnosed me with urge IC, but my wife thinks it’s because of my diapers. Now that I can’t wear them, my pants are always damp, and I often run to the bathroom.

Trust me, I feel the same way. But my marriage and my daughter are more important to me. I think she will relax and allow it again.

I have a telephone consult with my GI doctor in the middle of next month. Last night while out to dinner, my wife and I were having a good conversation when wham! I immediately had to run to the bathroom. Except for a little leak, I made it.

my wife is worried about this too.

I was lucky today. Me and my family were at Walmart shopping for a gift when it hit me. No notice at all. I was so lucky I was really close to the bathroom, but still had to run. Then about a half hour later at home, same thing…me sprinting to the bathroom. I spent much of the last couple days constipated, and today…wham.

I wasn’t as lucky today. I don’t wear a diaper to work, but I change into one when I get there. I work swing shift, so I start at 2:30 PM. On my way to work today, out of nowhere I needed to fart. I had been gassy earlier. But this time it wasn’t a fart. I can’t believe this happened as I was driving. There is a grocery store next to work, so I carefully walked in, and bought a small thing of wipes and left. Once at work I cleaned up as much as possible and put on a diaper. I’m so glad that I have work clothes to change into. My behind was burning by the time I cleaned up. What a day. :frowning2:

It’s hard to believe that I can’t trust a fart anymore. I really hope there is something that I can changed about my diet or medication to take. I’m not a fan of meds, but this is crazy.

Hope you get the relief you’re looking for. It’s gotta be a diet thing. It’s weird the foods that we are impervious to and then suddenly in middle age are problematic. I’ve been having acid reflux and finally and painfully weened myself off caffeine to a huge improvement. I used to be able to drink coffee with impunity for years. Unfortunately it’s previous experience that makes us carry on in disbelief sometimes. Have your eliminated dairy?

So far, the one think that I know could be causing it is gluten. With my EOE, gluten is the enemy. I have a hiatal hernia, gerd, and acid reflux. I’m on two prescription antacids and an inhaler.

I’m waiting for my appointment with a dietician to go over a diet of gluten free and possibly dairy free. I think they want me to try the 6 food exclusion diet and see if we can pinpoint what it is.

For more than 20 years in the Air Force, I was exposed to a lot of nasty chemicals. I painted aircraft, ground equipment and applied the stealth coatings (especially mast chemicals). I’m wondering if all the exposure is finally manifesting itself into digestion system issues. I asked my urologist about this and if it relates to my Urge, and dribbling. She doesn’t think so. She thinks it’s from my crystal light, and desire to use diapers. She was pretty dismissive about it even though she’s never ran any tests, just had phone conversations.

Does anyone have any insight to this?

Hi all, I have a question and hoping you guys can help me out. My medical is through the VA and we have secure messaging available and that’s how I actually made my appointment. Anyway, I typed up my symptoms and history and I’m thinking about sending it to my provider. This way he can review it before our telephone consult. Is this a good idea?
