You think its possible to use 2 of the same baby cribs to make fit an adult.
The problem you’ll probably encounter is the scale of wood as a baby crib only needs to hold a few pounds. You would probably need to buy some 2 x 4s to strengthen the construction, both frame and bottom. It’s also going to be out of proportion because it needs to become wider.
I think for the amount of effort and skill it would take to make that work and look decent, you could just as easily build your own from scratch.
The core concept of a crib is fairly straight forward. There is obviously some skill in not making it look like a backyard deck with a mattress slapped on it, but your basic plain box with rails crib that doesn’t actually need to be baby safe shouldn’t be that complex. Finish carpentry is all in the details. Measure twice, cut once, throw it in the scrap bin because you still got it wrong, repeat. That and woodfiller+paint can hide a lot of sins.
You would probably need 4 cribs to increase both the length & width.
But at that point it would be cheaper & easier to find a single or twin sized platform bed & just make/mount rails around it.
It would be a lot sturdier & also give you some under mattress storage for your dips & lil clothes.
It wouldn’t be the right width.
It’d be easier and cheaper to buy rails for your existing mattress
Structurally, a baby crib can not hold a “big baby” - it would collapse.
It would most likely be better to build one from scratch so it can hold the extra weight, and fit a normal mattress *( with waterproof ‘bed condom’ ) *
I knew an elderly man had problems falling out of his bed in the middle of the night so he build a crib around it using PVC pipes with a little door for him to get out. Something like that but much taller and went all the way around his bed.
Thank you for the responses.
