Hypnosis

So I’ve been trying to get into hypnosis but I have trouble trying to get into a trance. Idk if I’m just not doing it right or I’m not listening to the right stuff. What do you guys do or recommend I do. I’ve used mostly warp my mind website

Note that for many people, hypnosis simply doesn’t work. You may be one.

A trance-like state is simply a state of heightened focus and concentration. You say that you are having a hard time with trance. What is going on? Is your mind racing, sounds interrupting, just can’t relax.

Those who are more suceptable to hypnosis show a geater co-activation between the executive-control network and the salience network of the brain. In a stanford study they found that the “left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, an executive-control region of the brain, appeared to be activate in tandem with the dorsal anterior cingulate cortex, which is part of the salience network and plays a role in focusing of attention. By contrast, there was little functional connectivity between these two areas of the brain in those with low hypnotizability.”

Essentially what I am saying is that it could simply be a brain thing.

One of the things that I found important was good audio quality. In the early years of WMM (haven’t checked them out in over a decade) their files weren’t good. Some of them had obvious splices where the audio quality would change. Even listened to a few where the person didn’t use a pop filter and after working in the audio industry I would just get irritated and never be able to relax. I think it is also worth noting that developing a realationship with a hypnotist vs listening to a random file from the internet can make a huge difference. The reason is simple, trust.

Despite playing around with hypnosis files over many years I can’t say any of them worked as expected. Though my more recent adventures with MLL have arguably been more successful. Now, it is important to note that the behaviors and habits were already there and the choice had already been made and acted upon. These files just gave a bit of affirmation on those actions.

That said, I’m not sure what you are aiming for through hypnosis but a lot of those things can be achieved through simple behavioral and habit changes. More importantly, making a choice and sticking to it. As a therapist I really feel compelled to say it might also be worth looking into why hypnosis. For me, I was looking a degree of control to be removed. This is a recent revelation but I was romanticizing the idea of hypnosis as a way of achieving that instead of actually giving another person that control.
