Huge archive of vintage Pampers commercials

I just came across this huge archive of 1960s to 1980s Pampers commercials from Duke University libraries/Internet Archive. Useful for those either feeling nostalgic or who want to know what diapers looked like when they were a baby so they can try to buy similar ones today. The librarian-entered descriptions are sometimes odd/entertaining.

I wonder if the Pampers Toddlers commercial with the tagline “When you’re fishing with your friends, you need dryness to spare, you need Pampers.” is in this list?

Yow…I remember that commercial! That was after I got back into diapers! I forget if that was at the end of the fanfold era (when I used 4 toddler Pampers to make one me-sized diaper) or after they went hourglass and I stopped. All I know was that it was a fun, adorable commercial that made my urge to diaper up in Pampers even more powerful.

I think it had three stanzas, the last one I remember were scouts hiking in the woods with a toddler ‘bringing up the rear’ in a scout shirt, hiking shoes and a diaper; the jingle went “When you’re big enough to go out with the pack, it can take awhile for you to get back; you need dryness to spare, you need Pampers”.

Why, yes. Yes, I do need Pampers. :face_with_hand_over_mouth: :smiling_face_with_3_hearts::safety_pin::safety_pin:

The only one I vaguely remember, had to do with fishing. Either way, it would be so cool to find any of those commercials.

That was in there, too, it was the middle stanza. It was a fun commercial!

The stanza was (from what I remember) “When you’re big enough to go fishing with the men, it can take all morning before you reel one in. You need dryness to spare you need Pampers”

Sadly the archive does not have this commercial.

If one of the stanzas was hiking, the other was fishing, I wonder what the other stanza was?

I forgot what the first stanza was… :astonished:

I am watching the whole thing. They had a great idea if we tweak them today. We have people who like the plastic back disposable vs Cloth diapers. If they took the two and tweak them, we could have a killer diaper. It was Late 1960’s early 1970’s. What I think they reuse the plastic back on the diaper. But I am unsure. Sorry I was born in 1973, and I notice the 1980’s

It’s a little girl in an amusement park with her father. The stanza was, “When you big enough to go out to the park, you need a diaper that can last until dark, you need dryness to spare you need Pampers” or something to that effect.

It’s a shame that this commercial doesn’t seem to be available. One would think it has to exist somewhere. Most AB/DLs that I’ve talked to know this advertisement even after all these years. It seems that it punched all the right buttons.

It’s like the only commercial that somewhat stuck in my head, from when I was a kid. I sure hope it gets found and uploaded.

Thank You BobbieSueEllen and MeDisneyBaby.

I used to live for watching Pampers commercials as a kid. Huggies’ commercials were too saccharine-sweet and Luvs commercials were droll. For me, it was either Pampers or nothing at all…and still is to this day. :face_with_hand_over_mouth: :smiling_face_with_3_hearts:

Pampers ads in magazines were fun, too: I remember this one ad where an adorable toddler girl with wavy, dark brown hair was in a dress which showed off over half of her diaper below the hem…her Daddy was leading her up the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in DC with a blurred Abraham Lincoln seated in the background. I remembered that back when I visited that memorial in DC. That was a short but amazing trip!
