If my partner and I are going out in nappies we always carry two spare nappies, wipes and nappy sacks in our bags.
For me it’s always Drylife Slip Super if going out, and for her it’s nearly always Formacare X3 (purple).
If she’s feeling in a “I might have an accident but I’m not sure” mindset, then it will be Tena Noir Pull-Ups for her instead.
She always carries a spare pair of Tena Noir and a bag in her handbag anyway in case “that time” comes in unexpectedly.
Interesting to note, Pastel, that when you’re “older” you carry four pairs of knickers.
Do you wet your knickers when you’re out and about in the 6+ mindset? If so, is the nappy a last resort when you have used up all four pairs? (Feel free not to answer that if it’s too private!)
My partner once did this when we were on a picnic in the park. She had a very long skirt on which she spread out when she sat down.
At the end of the picnic she confessed that she had “a little accident” on the grass. We went to a cafe, where she changed into her Noirs and put her knickers into a nappy bag.
I dont actually wet my knickers, its more for feeling like my bag is packed realistically/role play. I would be too embaressed to have an accident with no nappy in front of people. However, one day I would love to wet through my knickers and trousers or skirt on the toilet so I have to change my clothes. It would be almost like having a proper accident, just in the privacy of a cubicle. Definately going to try it
And yes, the nappy is as a last resort of sorts. Or if I might be in a situation when it wouldnt be easy to go potty, like a long drive
I used to do this in the shower cubicles at the swimming pool before taking a pre-swim shower. It’s a lovely feeling, and in a cubicle you have nothing to lose privacy-wise.
If you like the idea of doing that, you might also like to try simulated bed-wetting which feels just magical.
Here’s how to do it for a lovely tingly experience that is very evocative:
First, drink a couple of pints of water! Then, you protect your mattress with a DryNites bed mat, and also stick one to the underside of your duvet to prevent that getting wet too.
Then you close your curtains and have the room lighting as it would be if you were sleeping.
They you put on your pyjamas/nightie and get cosy in bed. In your case I imagine teddies/plushies and/or a dummy might help you get into little space.
You might even want to close your eyes, put a story tape (I’m showing my age now!) or and just relax.
Then you have a “little accident”. It feels lovely and warm, and you won’t want to get up at first.
You will find that the bed mat will hold one full adult flood with no problems.
After a while, it starts to cool down. You “wake up” and throw off the duvet. “Oh no! You’ve wet your bed! Lucky there was a DryNites bed mat on it!”
When you get up, blushing a little because you have had an accident, you realise that your bed is safe but your PJs and knickers are soaking. Off to the bathroom for a shower or bath. PJ’s in the wash.
“Hmm… perhaps it would be a good idea to wear a nappy to bed for the rest of the night?”
Depends on what I’m doing… my bag usually has 3-5 diapeys, baby powder, desitin, a pack of wipes, a Nubby Sippy cup with juice and another nubby sports bottle with water chilled well, my binky of course, binky wipes, a small stuffie, a couple washcloths, 3-4 shopping bags for diapey disposal, some lotion and at least a spare outfit… it all really depends on what I’m doing and how long I’m gonna be gone … I keep 2 bags based on need a small pink fisher price diapey bag for short trips a few hours and a big over the shoulder Minnie Mouse bag for all day
My diaper bag usually remains the same. I keep 2-3 diapers or pull-ups in their, depending on what style I’ve been wearing. Plus 2 plastic bags for diaper disposal, wipes, and a change of big boy underwear in case I need to be a big boy.
My little varies a lot from one story/regression to the next. These lists are just approximate average daily diaper bags for normal routine outings.
4-5: actual diaper bag. 2-3 changes of clothes, but often mismatched: outings can be chaotic, the bag is not restocked every time, maybe we end up with no clean pants for little guy and he has to be in nothing but a diaper and shirt. Clean diapers and/or pull ups, again might not have a pull up and little guy gets a diaper when he wasn’t expecting it. Changing supplies: wipes, powder, rash cream, etc. Changing pad. Swim diapers, and possible swim trunks, but only if we are expecting to swim. Small blanket and stuffed animal. Pacifier or chewnoodle. Coloring/sticker book/toys. Sippy cup. Snacks. Bib. Hand sanitizer. Sunblock. Band-Aids. And anything else that might be added for the specific outing (bug spray, extra shoes/sandals, toothbrush, hoodie, EpiPen, hat, sunglasses etc, etc).
5-8: kids backpack, but a separate one from his school backpack: don’t want to accidently mix them up. 2-3 changes of clothes, also mismatched, but we are more careful with it. No underwear, if he is trusted with daytime underwear but has an accident, he gets pull ups for the rest of the day. Pull ups or disposable underwear (might also have 1 diaper just in case). Wipes, but no powder or rash cream. Changing pad: messy accidents are still possible. Small blanket or stuffed animal (not both): even older kids can get upset and need comforting. Chewnoodle has replaced pacifier by this age. Coloring book or small toys. Sippy or straw cup. Snacks, Band-Aids, And anything else that might be added for the specific outing (possibly a swim diaper and trunks, hat, sunblock, warm clothes, etc etc)
8-11+: age appropriate backpack, again separate from school backpack. 1 full set of clothes, plus second pair of shorts/pants. Includes underwear. 1-2 Disposable underwear/pull ups just in case, especially if more than 1 accident in same day. Wipes, Snacks. Chewnoodle mini. Straw cup. Reading book. Other items as needed, depending on the trip or occasion.
What I end up using the most I actually got for a once a month car trip, about 3-4 hours in each direction ( and spent 2-6 hours there - on rare occasions got a motel room and stayed over-night)
Not sure what it was actually called - but looks like a mini-gym bag - it dose not look like it would - but that thing will actually hold about 16 diapers plus a bunch of plastic bags (just big enough to hold one used diaper) - and a large container of powder, and about 2 packs of wipes, with a little room left over…
I do have other things for various situations - but that is the one that gets the most use.
