How can my dog sleep with her nose so close to something that dangerous?

My dog, Sadie, can clear a room more effectively than tear gas and far more silently yet she sleeps curled up with that super sensitive nose of hers within centimeters of this source of toxic gases. I can’t believe those noxious emissions don’t even rouse her in the least (possibly it’s knocking her out?). If all this isn’t bad enough she also applies her tongue to this nasty orifice and then dares to attempt to lick my face. Super sense of smell my foot! Makes one very appreciative of toilet paper and that our tongues aren’t that long.

that reminds me of that dog named Kazak from an episode of Archer

Nobody thinks their own farts stink. Even dogs.

Never had a dog myself but the in-laws have a Bassett hound who will seek out used feminine hygiene products to chew on. You can hear half way across the house Fred FRED drop it

The nose to tail sleeping position is an heriditary trait going back thousands of years before dogs were dogs and were pure wolf. In the wild it would help keep their internal body organs at a reasonable temp, but also helped protect vital organs if they were suddenly attacked. You will also see dog;s “nesting”, where they will try to dig up their bed and the curl up in it. again in the wild, wolves etc will try to find cover from the prevailing winds and if they can’t will attempt to form a circular pit in the ground to make a small whelter they can curl up in.

And it’s such an adorable sight too ^^
