Hook and Loop

I need to buy a new pack of dips and I was looking at ABU, they have these ones called “Hook and loop” and I was just wondering if everyone knows what that means, I can’t think of it tbh and they look just like a normal diaper so idk what the difference is.

They are the same as regular diapers as far as material in the diaper. The closures are not tape using adhesive. The closures are more like Velcro using a hook like surface on the tape and a loop type surface on the front panel. They are suppose to allow more adjustment without losing grip.

I have only tried one so far and it held up quite well as far the closures were concerned. I don’t mind them.

They’re a Velcro-type fastener but they can’t use the word Velcro about it as it is a registered trademark of Velcro BVBA and the diapers’ fastener is made generically. So…“hook-and-loop” it is!

As it has been said, it’s the generic name for Velcro.

They’re great if you like to reposition the tapes for a perfect fit or even remove the diaper and put it back on at a later time.

However, if you like a very tight diaper, some fasteners seem to have too little “hooks” to hold on (especially as the diaper swells when wet), which can be pretty annoying, but since you can just redo them, it’s not a dealbreaker for me.

Hook and Loop is pretty great, I know its odd seeing “Hook and Loop” for the 1st time not knowing what they mean; but as others have said it basically means Velcro, they just can’t use the name Velcro so “Hook and Loop” it is.

I’ve tried out Tykables Overnights (a while ago, so not the newer ones) ABU DinoRawrz, and recently Tykables Lil Rawrz

While there are differences between ABU Hook and Loop and Tykables, they all work very good and having Hook and Loop means you can readjust the Tabs many times without them losing adhesion.

With the ABU Hook and Loop though, last time I had DinoRawrz the material on the landing zone could eventually come undone a bit (separating from the plastic beneath it)

It didn’t happen very fast and took readjusting more than a few times for it to happen, so it’s really not a big issue, just dont try to readjust too much just in case

The same thing tends to happen to Tena products, too. I’ve had tapes need occasional readjustment.

I think with the ABU DinoRawrz I tried out it was because the Tabs would grip the Covering on the Landing Zone a bit too good, so eventually after more than a handful of readjustments it would pull the Cloth Like cover off and then wouldn’t stick to that area too well.

This being said if you dont readjust too many times it really wont be an issue and I’ve only had it happen a few notable times in a half case (40) of DinoRawrz

It’s entirely possible that newer batches dont have the problem quite as much, but even if it’s not fixed it’s not really a huge problem because the Tabs do work and wont tear the landing zone material off for more than a few Readjustments.

Hook anad loop normally refer to Velcro fastenings, But the chances are they will be more expensive than normal taped nappies.
