Hmmm.... Not so sure about this...

Okay, there have been a few threads about celebrities in diapers. There have been insinuations as well as a few actual instances where some celebrities have actually showed themselves in them, such as Miley Cyrus. But I came across a “vintage” commercial from quite some time ago from a celebrity that was a bit shocking, especially for its era. :face_with_monocle:

While it doesn’t really explain whether the actor was incontinent, or just being the comedian he was known for being, he does say in comparison with himself to the babies in the commercial that “all of us are experienced diaper wearers”.

Dick Van Patten was an actor commonly known for his role in Eight is Enough, but many other shows also.

Things were certainly different back then. While perhaps it was meant as funny play on why detergents weren’t so great for washing baby diapers and Ivory Snow was a gentler option, it just seems a bit off.

Different way of advertising their products.

And they are recognising that not only very young children wear are diapers.

Simple, they’re advertising a product to make diapers more soft for babies. Being in one made it more fun and cute for everyone. Took guts to do that years ago, and today we should all be wearing. (With plastic pants if you go cloth.)

P.S. Maybe he was a diaper wearer and wasn’t ashamed of it.

Personally, I wasn’t creeped out or anything else negative about the commercial. I worked in advertising and it was a way to just get your attention. Thought it was rather well done and cute too.

Oh come on. We all know it’s King Roland wearing Spaceballs: The Diaper.
