Hi! Crib question.

Hello! I’m curious if anyone here has ever slept in or consistently used a real baby crib.

My cg and I are currently considering trying out one of the 4 in 1 cribs because our theory is that cribs that can be adjusted to fit a full size bed frame could perhaps hold the weight of an adult in any form.

Disclaimer; I’m not requesting the logistics on our theory or likelyhood of failure using a real baby crib, simply asking if any have.

I haven’t, but I can say that most cribs are not designed to hold the weight of an adult. Check the weight limit of the crib. If it can hold your weigh plus an additional 200 lbs for the mattress then it should be fine.

A 200-pound mattress must be really something!

I have a baby crib that was custom-made; I’ve had a couple of adult-sized cribs and found them very hard to disassemble and store when they weren’t being used. My crib has a single drop-side, which would make it illegal for sale in the United States today. The real key is the mattress platform and how it’s secured the crib itself. If the mattress platform bolts into the crib sides and the platform itself is metal, it will probably hold an adult. If the platform attaches to the crib via metal hooks of one kind or another, it may be prone to fail under the weight of an adult.

My crib mattress platform is steel and bolts into the crib sides. I imagine it would support two adults, if I could get two to fit! However, in a ‘baby’ crib, space is always at a premium.

I’m 6’0 and 180lbs. I fit in a crib. It’s not very comfortable to sleep in at all for me. But it didn’t break.

Yes. I take naps all the time in my crib.

I have an actual baby crib. I bought it a few year a few years ago. I used to use it much more than now but even now I dont experience many problems. I’m about 5 feet 5 inches so the only complaint is that I cant fully strech out my legs.

Yup! It is heaven, worth every penny, and I miss it every day. :frowning: I’m working to get one back and some day, I shall succeed. It is where us littles are meant to be

Mattresses range from 50 to 150 in weight. I added 50 on top of that as a safety margin.

Yes I have a real baby crib. Mine is a lollipop lane cot bed. I’m 6 ft so I can’t sleep with stretched legs, but I’ve had no issues with it in terms of weight and I’ve had it a couple of years now.

My logic was that parents often get in the cot with their babies, so it would be ok. For me I love the authenticity of sleeping in a real baby bed.

I just looked for a crib… and found actually some prettey cool ones. But new, i need to save a lot of money. When i can buy a used one with like 2 meters length, i would get one. But i have no way to transport it

I made my crib by assembling different parts. but the main attraction was using two headboards like the one shown.

choosing side rails so it was long enough to accomodate my length. Then the only custom part was the side rails, I had to make them myself. You can get really self possesed once the itch takes hold. But even doing it this way, it was not cheap to do. But it has held up 15 years and still going.
