Halloween is 2 1/2 months away, yet I see every store is stocking up on the annual spooky stuff … I have even seen 2 of those temporary Halloween stores in my area !
I like Halloween, I personally think that Halloween is one of the most artistically creative holidays … HOWEVER it seems like the holiday is being pushed earlier and earlier by the stores . I would not be surprised if in a few years, Easter, Christmas, and Halloween decorations will be available almost year 'round !
I don’t mind Halloween decorations going up early at all. My home is filled with spooky and macabre stuff: just looking around my room, I see skulls and skeletons and monsters and horror movie posters, so what some people see as “Halloween decorations”, I see as year-round decor.
The Syfy TV station showed the movie, Trick 'R Treat last weekend and I thought, has the Halloween season begun already. I guess so. Since Covid-19, every day is Halloween.
I suppose a longer marketing season can help make up for the potential of lower spending in an uncertain economy. Various holidays have been commercialized for ages, so I am not surprised to see such things happen.
I, for one, don’t really mind it. It’s a nice reminder of the upcoming holiday season. And who couldn’t use a little holiday cheer after what this year has been so far?
I personally do not care for Halloween, but seeing the decorations in stores gets me excited of the upcoming holiday season. I love Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Just the other night, I was watching TV and they were showing a commercial for Lifetime holiday movie flicks. In my mind I was like, “What?! For Pete’s sake! We’re not even in Halloween yet!”
