Sorry if this is not the right forum, but I had to pick and I wanted to respect the incontinence forum rules. I have recently started wearing more regularly out of pure enjoyment. I don’t have known incontinence issues; however, I am finding that I have to catch myself and have sudden urges when I’m not wearing. The other night I had to sprint to the bathroom even though my bladder was not full and I did wake up wet one day (in the act). I’m thinking that maybe I’m unknowingly and unintentionally training myself to be dependent on diapers. This is not my desire. Naturally I’ll bring it up with my doctor; however, I was wondering if this was something that others have experienced. Thanks for your feedback.
you’re training your bladder to not hold it, idk if the muscles also grow weaker since you’re not holding it or anything
This is exactly what is happening to me. I’ve had a dribbling problem for a few years, but I started wearing diapers in March. Both my PCP and my Urologist know I like diapers. My urologist told me not too long ago that my urge symptoms and the accidents I’m having are caused by my desire to be in diapers and incontinent. That if I wanted to stop, I’d have to stop wearing diapers.
Makes sense. Everything in moderation I guess.
My mom is IC and she sees essentially a urologist-therapist. The key to combating a weak bladder was to do kegels and also stop/start while urinating.
I got used to diapers at age 13, and have been wearing over 42 years. I am not incontinent nor do I wish to be. I enjoy my diaper and yes it is my personal bathroom. I dont have to run or break a heel trying to get to a bathroom on time. I am very constant and have a set time to poop which I have trained myself to be after I leave work. Not a problem for me to poop my diaper on the way out the door and get into my car and squish it down and enjoy a nice messy ride home. Gotta love them potholes too. I get home use my shower wand and then take a nice bubble bath. Not a problem and rinse and repeat.
I wear diapers for pure enjoyment too. I limit myself to 1 diaper a day so I don’t get dependent on them and start wearing them 24/7. Sometimes I will wear 2 diapers in 1 day and rarely do I wear 3 in one day. Not to mention it’s a pain in the @#$ to clean poop
I can definitely relate this. but wetting the bed is way too far. I believe its not really “dependent” on diaper but more so “bladder weakening”. when you barely hold pee when wearing a diaper instead just keep releasing whenever you have the chance. the point is, when you dont hold your bladder, it’ll get weaker and weaker. the moment where you start wetting the bed is when I would recommend talking to a doctor, or stop wearing for a week or so to retrain your bladder.
I have a top notch bladder! I always often wear diapers to bed by choice, and I’ll use them.
One night I was not wearing a diaper and I woke up already dribbling a bit! I know this is due to my brain becoming accustomed to … peeing while in bed.
One day last Summer, I took a shower after working in the yard all day. During the Summer I just wear overnight and wear panties during the day. When I went to bed I forgot to change and put the plastic pants over the panties. I got up during the night and got out of bed to stretch and pee. After I got back into bed I noticed I was wet. The bottom of me was soaked as was the bed sheets, mattress protector and floor. I cleaned my self and the mess and put new sheets on the bed. Then the dogs came over and wanted to go out (3am). Now before I pee, I check to see if I am padded.
Never forget that most doctors aggressively pursue trying to “fix” you, without ever considering (or caring) if you want to be fixed or not. They either assume it, or consider it their job to convince you that you need fixing.
If you say you want to stay in diapers, that should be the end of that line of discussion. If they come back with an argument against it, there’s a problem.
I wear to bed every night and I use them
I only wear when at home not to work or in public I enjoy wearing diapers
I too have noticed problems holding my pee since I have been wearing more frequently. I right away chalked it up to my bladder getting used to not holding it as much. I gotta say though it dosn’t worry me so much, mostly because I always peed my pants a little as a small boy and it never bothered me. It bothered my parents though. So yes, while I am finding it more of a challenge to hold it when I’m supposed to, I’m kinda excited to have “accedents”.
Me too, every night so I can get some sleep.
I don’t wear to work but after work, in public, and on the weekends.
Sometimes when wearing diapers for to long you can get a UTI and intense urgency suddenly is one of the symptoms (curable by antibiotics like ciprofloxin) talk to your doctor and they can perform a urine rest to put that fear off the table. However your body may be simply subliminally realizing "hey I dont have the diaper I usually have what’s up with that??)
I’ve gotten to the point I can wet unconsciously on SOME nights. I do like waking up wet and not remembering wetting, but I never go for more than three nights doing that. I take the next night in a PUL pant and try to keep it dry. I’ve never woke up having wet that. After that, it is usually takes a week before I unconsciously wet again.
And to be clear, I’m usually well-hydrated, I’ve emptied my bowels and relaxed, and there’s at least one diuretic factor in play.
Yes, please take your health seriously. You are responsible for you. The pin at the top of this forum is here to remind you of that and to hopefully dispel the fantasy in time before you do any serious damage.
So if you suspect your muscles getting weak, why don’t you
retrain them? I’m sure you still feel the urge to go unlike
an incontinent person that might not feel anything going on
and that’s where the diaper comes in.
Try and hold it in. That will exercise the muscles and
you should be able to get them back in shape.
It’s a muscle like any other in your body and it can
be exercised and trained.
And if you can’t hold it anymore, the diaper will
take care of it.
I am wearing diapers to bed every night and I use
them in the morning (if not already wet, in which case
I won’t have the urge to go). But I’m not seeing
any of the effects described above.
I do have accidents at night (hence the diapers),
but not because I can’t hold it in.
