Frustrated with my type of ic

I have been wearing 24/7 almost 20 years now for severe bladder spasms… I have experienced all those feelings that everybody has previously mentioned about feeling naked or nervous without a diaper. It is funny I still feel the urge to pee it is just that it hurts to hold it… I wish the automatic reflex to attempt to stop would go away and I could just empty without pain. It is also annoying that even after 20 years I still wake up before releasing and go through the same pain cycle like I do during the day. I will give anything to wake up wet as long as I get uninterrupted sleep. Is it strange to wish that my incontinence would get worse to avoid pain? Has anyone had the same experience or have suggestions on how to achieve some piece with this?

I assume you have had a full diagnostic run up. Has your doctor thought about a low dose of Diazepam (valium) I Take 4mg at night to control hand spasms and find it fairly effective and at that dose there is no skill impairment nor is it habit forming. Fortunately I have 0 sensation from the bladder down so I void as and when my bladder triggers, which if i’m hydrated is about every 90 mins. I also wear 24/7 and have been for about 30 years now, prior to that was doubly IC until age 14, then bladder IC apart from a reasonably dry run of about 8 or 9 years (but still wet at night), so been in nappies or pads of some description for 65 years.

It’s not bad to want to not have pain. You sound a lot like me, although, maybe I’m a bit more mobile, which can be more of a pain in the butt, because I feel more obligated to suck it up and deal with it, even to the point of dehydration and constipation. Don’t do that. Wanting the pain to go away isn’t bad. I get it.

I say, keep hydrated.

I have similar bladder spasms too with my Cerebral Palsy.

Of course with me, I also have Bowel Incontinence.

Every single day I have bowel spasms and I uncontrollably “POOP MY PANTS”, either while sitting or standing supported by my Loftstrand Crutches.
