First paci... what’s the best?

Looking to get my first paci and was wandering what was the best brand to get? I seen some different ones (sizes etc) and have no clue were to begin to look lol. Thanks for any help

I like the latex one, I would say any of them in latex but when I was a kid I used the cherry type and I want one of this but can’t find here in Brazil even the latex they str are not selling here

I’m also curious and I’ve always wanted to try this. But somehow I fear becoming addicted to it

I use Nuk Latex 18-36mts, find them excellent! Never had an adult one, but some of them look ginormous! Not sure I would like them.

How is it using a baby one? I would think it’s to small

You would think it pretty small, but the 18-36mts is pretty big, I don’t suffer from any sore teeth or mouth because of use. I suppose it’s trial and error, dummy use is very subjective.

I’ll have to look and see

I can’t speak for baby pacifiers, I’ve only tried adult ones, but the majority of places I’ve bought pacis from seem to use the NUK 6, which I find to be quite pleasurable. Most of the ones I’ve bought are from independent stores, but most of the major retailers sell perfectly decent ones for super cheap. Next time you order from say, Rearz, you can pick one up for $3 and that should give you a pretty good idea of what the adult standard is, then you can head to Etsy to spend more on custom ones.

I have a pacifiersrus one, and I’m very happy with it. I have their Nuk 5 silicone, intended for daytime, but it’s as needed, whenever I need it. It has an annoying seam, but I got used to it. It’s expensive, but worth it. I would not choose another one, because it inflates and deflates like it’s supposed to, and looks like a modern baby one, until a silicone gummy type adult one comes out.

I wish they would still sell nuk latex here I have ono of the genius but is so thin that you almost don’t suck, but the size is good

I find the latex softer and more comfortable than the silicone, Nuk seem to have discontinued the nuk 18-36mts in a some countries, luckily you can still purchase them in Ireland. I stocked up last year in case it happens here. The adult ones in the ire/uk are very expensive to buy on their own, I hope to try printed nappies/diapers soon, might pick up an adult dummy to try.

We have only nuk and avent number but only silicone my mom latex I had to buy from someone who brought from the usa and the advent 18 months doesn’t even look bigger than the 6 months

The best advice I can give is, since you’re going from one intended for 18 months to 3 years old, is go with a size 5, and actively think, “I have a nose. I *can breathe *through that.”

Otherwise, you might feel a bit spooked.

Thanks for the advice, I’ll check it out

Adult pacifiers are designed differently to normal baby ones.

The most common used ones are called NUK 5s but as you can see they come in other sizes as will.

They come in Silicone as well as Latex, it is down to personal test to the size and material you have.

Although I would recommend an NUK 5 Latex, it may take some time for you to find what is right for you.

Why does someone like to suckle on a Pacifier?

There are serval regions why a Little will enjoy suckling.

It could be a trigger in to little space.

It helps them contrite on thing as this is the case for me.

It helps them with stress relief from anxiety. And it’s a comforter like our stuffies (cuddly toys) are.

They do come in lots of different designs.

I enjoy suckling on my pacifier as it is a stress relief and it helps me think about things, it also seem to help me go to sleep at night.

I would suckel in public if it was more socially excitable.

Having a caregiver put your pacifier in your mouth is for me a bit of a trigger as I just melt into a toddler mind set.

Also suckling a pacifier underneath a face mack is something special.

Hope you find one that you are comfortable with.

Hugs

Thank you, very informative. For me I also feel the use of a pacifier is sensory based, as I am Pre-diagnosed ASD. I was 5 when I gave up the use when I was young. Stress and anxiety relieving, especially at meltdown.
