Hi everyone this is my first post i am very shy about this
I have recently been talking too a creator on etsy about creating a simple adult swaddle.
Does anyone have any experience with this seller and site? BabyBelleDDLGLTD
and what does everyone think i should do about this item she has quoted a price of £100 too custom create this item as alot of you may be aware this item does not exist anywhere apart from posts here a very long time ago is that a reasonable price?
The outer material will be a cotton muslin with a bit of mesh area too allow breathing and the inside will be lined with a fleece type material and snaps on the shoulder so it can be worn arms in/out
Do you think £100 is a reasonable price for a custom made item i understand there will be alot of fabric needed and the time too create the item isn’t free but £100 seems high end
So I was going to say it might be a little pricey. But I wont ever tell you buy it becouse that’s what you like. I think that statement is sorta foolish, it really doesn’t answer any questions. So custom made items are going to be pricey. Second fabric which I have bought is very expensive. My guess would be over 50 in american dollars. So looking at those two factors maybe not so bad. For me personally its iffy (is that a word). I would think about it.
I actually think the price is quite reasonable … even in US dollars. When you consider the amount of fabric required, and the amount of time (and doubtless, some trial and error) to produce an adult-sized piece, I don’t think £100 is out of line.
I realize many ABs and DLs are inclined for various reasons to be somewhat parsimonious. However, specialty items - especially handmade specialty items - are seldom inexpensive.
Oh i don’t have pronlems spending money on things i just don’t want too be taken advantage of with never actually having anything custom made before as i already said i understand a substantial amount of material, velcro, snaps will be used and it will take the creator quite awhile too make this item
I’m aware of the difference. As you said, no one sells an adult swaddle so it would be a bespoke custom order. I mentioned the one by Cosy N Dry to give you a rough idea of what similar items retail for.
I just double checked and the grow bag sells for £75.
You’re essentially asking for 2 pieces. The inner to secure the arms and the outer swaddle bag which will require a zip and snaps. Factor in materials, time and the skill involved and I don’t think £100 is at all unreasonable. At that price I actually think you are getting a very good deal.
Yep the only reference i can find for an adult swaddle is on this site like 10years ago the one by fatedesigns but he dissappeared
I had a look on cozydry after you posted it i hadn’t seen it before so yes this is a completely bespoke item
I already have a weighted blanket i love it when its right can hardly move around but its just too much during warmer nights and you can always move your arms out of it no matter what
With a swaddle you get all the benefits of a weighted blanket only you would be completely dependent on someone too unfasten it for you it would be pretty hard too get your arms free if it was done right you definitely couldn’t just get up and use the toilet if you needed without someone letting you free
As someone who works at a clothing shop for our local Renaissance festival. I can say that this is an excellent price for a custom item. almost 40% of our business is people asking for custom items, and while many of the posts here rightly point out the cost of materials and time involved, the creator of said item also has the expense of the sewing machine as well as you are paying for their years of hands on experience.
I have checked its OK with my partner too buy this and am in the final stages of communication with the seller i will post an update when it arrives not sure what you would like too know but will post
I think we would all like to see what your experience with the seller is as people may want to use them in the future for other products. Also, it would good to know what the final product looks like and any use you get out of it.
