Last night as a normal ritual I was diapered before bed, I chose a size large rearz safari and was snuggly put into it, this morning when I got changed I found a few medium safari’s left over from an older open pack, I decided to change into one of the mediums to see if I felt a difference.
The larges def feel more diaperish to me, the have tons more material that settles in the seat area, the tapes for obvious reasons are closer together with the top tapes about 1" apart from each other, I still get a good fit without worry of any leakage until I start really pressing the diaper to its max.
Upon changing into the medium, it feels way more snug, the back seat of the diaper is almost none existent and the back side top ends right at the line between my butt and small of my back, it just feels a little lower then what I’m use to, for obvious reasons, the tapes are more on the front of my hips giving my the feeling of snug and thicker core.
When I changed out of the size large it was pretty wet, I had wetness in the front that migrated to the rear seat and started wicking up the back, I think the mediums are not going to wick as well cause the whole diaper seems tight to me, but we’ll have to wait till after lunch to see if that hypothesis holds true.
I wear size medium and I can relate to what you said about the fit. Mediums fit me fine and feel great, but I never liked how the tabs connect on my sides/hips. I’d prefer the tabs to be more on my tummy and like you said 1" apart!
I recently ordered a sample size Large just to see how it feels, last time a Large was a bit too saggy in the crotch and went way past my belly button!
I would be happy if Tykables or Rearz out out a diaper where the tabs/wings extend out a bit more so that we could achieve this hug/wrap.
Regarding tabs, is having the tabs on the sides the correct way for adults?
Most mediums fit me on paper but I tend to buy large. There are times when a given brand is disappointing in its overall proportions outside of the typical waist measurements. Abena is a poster child of this for me. The M4 is such a short low rise diaper and the L4 is massive with the tapes almost touching each other in the front. My go-to premium brand is ABU in large.
I have a whole bunch of samples of other brands like LFB coming this week hopefully. Then, the xp5000 is next on my list of diaper conquests.
I wear MegaMax and Elite Hybrid diapers and the top tapes close in closer to the front; plus, I hike up the lower tapes at an angle and my diapers look exactly as though a baby is wearing them because…well, because I am a baby. :smiling_face_with_3_hearts::smiling_face_with_3_hearts:
Neo: nice find on the tab comparison there. Notice how the adult diaper is basically making a “square” shape, (same width as height) but the baby diaper is more recrangular? (taller than it is wide) Babies are long and thin, adults are much wider. At the picture scale, you can see the hips get 50% wider, but the legs double in width for the adult. Different ratios require different fits.
