Doctors Appointment. Should I mention it?

Good morning everyone,

Well, had some issues getting a prescription filled late last week (out of refills) and my doctor (PCP) wants to bring me in to do a test, nothing serious, just a bit of high blood pressure, and to adjust my dose if necessary. Honestly, I hope he can make it milder, I’ve been having some issues at night (vertigo) that have not been fun. Anyways, I’m on the fence on mentioning my IC issues, as they are something that has just been life long, and I’ve managed quite well up until I was really sick and experienced side effects from the long term use of medication. I’ve also experienced occasional issues with my blood pressure medication, where one time I was given a different type of pill (pharmacy couldn’t fill with the standard) and I had my nighttime issues every night for about two weeks, same happened when I went back to my standard. I’m on the fence of mentioning this to him, one part is obviously feeling embarrassed, but honestly I just don’t want to be on some other pharmaceutical as the common ones really wouldn’t be good for my health in general (would exacerbate too many underlying issues). I see wearing my personal products as an effective means of management that don’t impact my health, if it works for me and I feel comfortable/have no issues with it, why fix something that isn’t broke? I was curious as to others thoughts on weather or not I should bring up the subject when I already have an effective means of management.

Thanks!

Definitely mention it. They might have an idea for a fix

You absolutely mention it. Even if you decline any of the treatments offered, it’s still an important part of your overall health picture, and may fit in with other things.

They will send you to another doctor that deals with that issue.

I would mention it, If you are fine with it let him know that too. It is always good for a doctor to know everything.

well,

Ive been having some serious issues with my health as of late, literally been in the er/icu 20+ times in the last several months…and still no answer for my syncope with collapse…everything they test turns out good…

but my current list of issues has not got my ic listed, been life long, has my nerve damage, hyper and hypotension (cant find that issue either), my sleepwalking, my bad leg, my bad vertebrae, my bad brain injuries, my chronic pain, bad shoulder, adrenal issues, possible autonomic brain damage, etc…

think they ran out of fields in the computer

but, by all means you should mention it…mine has come up at the hospitals many times…and i know its known…think they just list it with my nerve damage from when i was a kid…

And ive been through the tests, meds, and drew the line at surgery…

Definitely mention it to your doctor as Incontinence is caused by underlying medical issues, there are millions of us in North America that have to wear 24/7 so theres no shame in letting your doctor know you need to be diapered for an IC issue.
