WHAT IS GOING ON WITH DISCORD? they want my birthday, my email and password, screw that, I was always ok before I don’t even like the way discord works, and its not very interesting, SCREW THEM!

When I go to sign up with them, they ask for an email, password, and username.

Every site asks you to create a username+password. It is how you log in.

Every site also asks for your email so that you can reset your password in case you forget it or lose it.

Discord asking for your date of birth is probably:

  • an additional security measure to verify your identity, apart from email (sometimes people lose access to their email, too)

  • a way of blocking minors from accessing adult content (ie: protecting people who operate 18+ discords from having minors join them)

  • a marketing strategy so they can do things like say “hey, treat yourself to discord nitro on your birthday!”

Are they actually asking for the password TO your email account? Or for something beyond the above?

If not, what they ask for seems very reasonable. They don’t ask for anything more than ADISC does.
