Having struggled with addiction in the past through being emotionally isolated and stressed I found a recovery passage that really hit home with how I wanted to identify with my little side. So hear it is.
“since most of us are born with an abundance of natural desires, it isn’t strange we often let these far exceed their intended purpose. When they drive us blindly, or we willfully demand that they supply us with more satisfaction or pleasures then are possible or due to us. That is the point at which we depart from the degree of perfection that our higher power wishes for us here on earth. That is the measure of our character defects, or, if you wish our sins.
If we ask our higher power will certainly forgive our dereliction’s. but in no case do they render us white as snow and keep us that way without our co-operation. That is something we are supposed to be willing to work towards ourselves. They ask only that we try as best we know how to make progress in the building of character! “
This was the first idea I found that allowed me to start moving towards living whole heartedly, and authentically! I know work towards using my thoughts to control my feelings and actions (subconscious mind) and name and identify them so I can work to better understand what I’m really going through without being angry or mad at others who I feel may be discriminatory.
Don’t react, pause, pray and reflect. Believe in your own higher power for infinite beliefs!
