I am looking for a site to get good thick diapers and pull-on vinyl pants (may diaper pins too).
I am not sure if I want fitted or flat. But the main point is something reusable to use at home (and that is most of the time.
I have been wanting to do this for years figuring in the long run, it will save money. When I was a kid, I had a lot for use at home (but the school nurse did not want to deal with them!) - and it’s been a long time, but think I recall liking them better anyway. And then just use disposables diapers when it is more convenient (if there is a hospital stay, out all day, ex.). The main reason I want them thick is to make sure they will actually hold it all when I do wet (absolutely no control, and very large amounts at times.)
Now that I am finally looking for some, I have little info. I found one site so far that seems decent, that is Angle Fluff - but every thing there seems sort of expensive - however if need be…
Also a little confused on what size to get in both diapers and pants. With disposables, I use a Medium diaper, but a few times I have needed pants over them - and had to go up to Large because Medium pants were just too tight on the legs (there was actually an indentation on my legs where the elastic on the pants were.)!
I also know while we both have been wanting to get cloth diapers for some time, for almost the same reasons, my wife needs to be happy with them as well. I have some problems with my hands, she is the one that always changes me. And at least with disposables - she hates Velcro! (Well there have been a few exceptions, but in general…)
For the past several years I’ve bought my cloth diapers at AdultClothDiaper.com. Great people to deal with and good prices, especially when the item that you want is on sale during their 15% off sale that runs for a month once or twice a year. They also have a volume discount for any order of 4 or more (this is for Contour Il gauze diapers, not sure about the volume for other items). With the volume discount and the 15% off sale price I pay about $18 for the 4/10/4 ply Contour ll with the 10 ply soaker included. For covers I’ve settled on Haian brand from Amazon. Hope this helps.
For now, waiting on one prefold diaper, one pair of pull on plastic pants, and 2 packs of diaper pins from AdultClothDiaper.com - see how that works out before getting too much.
Adultclothdiaper is about the best that I like. The snapies or something like that don’t work very well with the birds eye cloth so diaper pins are needed. Now there are different types of designs of which I like the straight birdseye insert but at nite the ones that have terry cloth inside the soaker work the best.
I agree with you Jim about the terry soaker increasing the nighttime performances of AdultClothDiaper.com’s cloth diapers. Recently I ordered two of their birdseye and two of their gauze prefolds which is a departure from my normal order of Contour ll’s with their included 10 ply gauze soaker. Both of these styles of prefold have a terry soaker panel sown into the center section. When using the Contour ll’s I add a folded terry bath towel as a soaker and a folded terry hand towel as a liner. With the terry soaker sown into the prefolds it is much more difficult to get to dry than the separate terry towels. Another benefit of the towels is the shape they take when folded so that they fit between my legs when placed in my contour diaper and then they’re unfolded in the front and rear prior pinning forming a “V” shape in both locations. Their excellent rapid absorbency coupled with the trough formed by the “V” makes for leak free side sleeping. These terry towels then slowly wick their moisture to the gauze soaker(s) and diaper(s) making them ready for the next wetting. Having these terry towels as removable additions rather than sown in components of the diaper also makes cleaning them easier and more thorough. Another plus is that towels are considerably less expensive than diapers. After trying these prefolds I believe that I’ll be returning to my contour diapers supplemented with terry towels. Stay padded.
I just bought from Ecoables. So far so good. I’m a side sleeper and no leaks and they even held another void after I woke up (with both the Prefold and snap in booster.)
The only problem I’ve noticed so far is that they’re a bit less discreet than my normal daytime disposable and give me pantylines (but that’s because most of my wardrobe is leggings and I wore thin disposables during the day)
