Well had my fourth round of chemo yesterday and had the worst reaction ever I didn’t know they were upping the chemo dosage and had vomited three times getting the chemo and two more time later in my room. The nurse I had this time said I handled it better than the dr expected. I slept off and on last night and this morning when breakfast was served which included two pieces of toast and spirts drink looking cup something I powered my way through that and felt nauseous and my stomach had a burning sensation but I told the nurse I was fine and saw the dr asked him if this was the new normal dosage, it will be for two more time then the last four will be stronger. I thanked him for being honest with me and left for home. While home the nausea got worse to the point I drove to the next town over because no one here accepts what the va will pay or takes Aetna my secondary insurance just incase. Saw urgent care and told them I can’t keep anything down after having chemo yesterday saw dr he got ahold of the VA hospital and sent me home with samples of Kytril until the VA mails them they claim I’ll get them on Monday but he gave me 10 days worth. So here I am lying in bed nauseous and tired giving an update hopefully thing will be better tomorrow
OMG, dude!!!
I’ve read many of your updates but knew nothing about chemotherapy. I had no idea it was going to get worse like this before it gets better. The doctors all seem to be taking it in stride, so I guess they expected it. Pity that you were the last to know. Be grateful you have a loving family, a roof over your head, free VA insurance, and friends here, and take as much time as you need to sleep it off. Not much else you can do, I guess. Like a lot of other people, I’m thinking of you.
Hope you feel better, soon.
Wow, your doing good, keep up the good fight!!
I am starting chemo tomorrow for breast ca. They have already called in a script for zofran to my pharmacy, it’s for nausea. They stated they will also give my iv nausea meds before the start of chemo every time. The iv nausea Med is a 72 hr medication. Stay strong and kick its ass, cancer sucks.
So sorry you’re both going through this. Cancer sucks!
So sorry to hear. Wishing you the best.
Hey good luck with your chemo treatment tomorrow, the IV meds to work well I just didn’t have a good reaction this last time, the Zofran really didn’t do anything for me hopefully you’ll have better results with the meds. I’ll keep you in my prayers I’m sending you warm thoughts.
I also would like to thank y’all for being there through the tuff times I’ve learned from this that a cancer diagnosis effects the whole family not just me. My wife has been there from the beginning and comforts me on my bad days I love her with all of my heart
PS hope that wasn’t too mushy!!!
No it wasn’t, a good support during this is important. My family friends and coworkers have been there for me . Just as you wife is With you.
