Britney Army

Is anybody on here a Britney Spears fan? Am I the only one?

I wouldn’t consider myself a fan but she’s a great artist and I love a couple of her songs.

She used to be a megastar but nowadays I sometimes feel sorry for her (as there’d been so many bad news).

What sort of bad news? I don’t pay attention to pop culture that much.

Drugs, losing custody of her children etc.

That’s horrible. I hope she’s doing better. I’ve always loved her music when I first introduced myself to her on YouTube when I was younger.

I was around the right age when Britney first hit the scene; I didn’t think much of her at the time, but though I generally prefer other pop divas who started in the '90s (Spice Girls, P!nk, Christina, etc.), I have a lot of respect for Britney and who she is as both a pop culture and LGBTQ icon. I don’t even really listen to her music or her type of music, but if somebody offered me a ticket to one of her shows, I’d accept it in a heartbeat. “Toxic” is a legit jam.

I will say, though, that if I remember correctly, ‘Crossroads’ - Britney’s ill-fated stab at an acting career in 2002 - was a solid so-bad-it’s-good film, a decent double-feature with the Mariah Carey bomb ‘Glitter’.

I remember when she was young and just starting her career and she was quite good. Our grocery story had a full size cardboard cutout of her as she was used to sell milk, of all things. Her picture had her scantily glad and she caught my attention every time I walked down the milk isle. It was a “Woa…” moment!
