Hi, I posted a question about baby bottles but I also need some help. I love them of course but the nipple always collapses so I have to wait for it to inflate after it bubbles. How can I fix this without destroying the nipple so it won’t leak? OR what nipple should I buy to put on my bottle?
That is why I like Playtex drop-ins. The inside bag collapses so air does not need to get in.
I’ll second the Playtex drop ins. They also have a larger higher flow nipple which I recommend getting.
Can you use the drop-ins in other bottles?
Did you enlarge the nipple hole. That can help. I actually used the tip of a wine cork screw to enlarge mine. You don’t want to enlarge it by much because you don’t want it to leak, but making the hole a little larger helps. That said, some bottles are better than others. I bought some Avent glass baby bottles and those work well. Even the cheap plastic baby bottles that you see at the grocery store should work well without the nipple collapsing.
The Y cut nipples give a good flow without dripping.
If your nipple has a vent hole run a toothpick through it to enlarge and separate the vent. Sometimes during the molding process it’s not opened fully and can lead to a nipple that will collapse. You can also ensure this part of the nipple gets washed so that left over milk does not cause it to get stuck together.
happy bottling
I had the same problems with any bottle I tried until I switched to these.

They have a big vent hole to keep from creating a vacuum, the flow is great, and though the nipple looks a little odd, it feels very natural. I have several that I use a lot.

I tried one of those and didn’t get on with it at all.
That is one of my favorite part when I stop to breathe and the bubble come
I use Nuk Perfect Fit nipples & rings on my custom bottles, they have this “Anti-Colic Air System” (basically, a 2mm slit on a thin part of the nipple side, certainly no rocket science!) for their nipples which lets air in as I drink. ![]()
