Beyond XP5000 first impressions

Hey guys and girls after seeing XP Medical’s new diaper the XP 5000 I ordered a pack and wanted to give y’all my first impression of the new diaper.

disclaimer this isn’t a scientific diaper review and is just one persons subjective opinions.

Packaging:

The diaper comes in a plain white/ orange packaging that isn’t going to blow your hair back. The packaging isn’t well thought out with bright colors like Better dry or Dry 24/7. But at the end of the day the product is what matters not the packaging.

First look:

After pulling the first diaper out I got the impression that this was going to be XP’s attempt to copy the Abena M4 which they have a long history with going back to Gary‘s attempt to save the product from being discontinued. Which he was successful.

The diaper has plain white backing with “M” “medium” “xp5000” and some other lines making it very reminiscent of past generations of Abena’s. The plastic isn’t the softest or thickest but it feels very nice to the touch.

One of the biggest features of this new diaper is the hook and loop tabs. Which I personally feel is one of the biggest improvements in adult diapers since SAP.

First time wearing:

After unfolding the first diaper I noticed the presence of front and back waistbands thethin but they’re are there which I appreciate. The diaper also appears short in length compared to a typical medium of say a better dry. And def shorter then the dry 24/7 which has sizing that is known for being to big.

after pulling the diaper between my legs the short size is very apparent. I’d probably order large next time but these basically fit like an Abena M4. I typically call it bikini fit as a little joke to myself lol

I almost immediately needed to readjust the tabs but with the hook and loop closures it’s super easy and I’m immediately thankful that these tabs are there.

First day wearing a XP5000:

I got the delivery shorty before I had to leave for work. So naturally I wore one of these to work to get a real feel for them.

The XP5000 is very comfortable while moving, I was very aware of the fact I was diapered which I like. They’re not overly crinkly In fact they didn’t make a sound under normal clothes. And just swish a bit when openly wearing.

I did notice that the diaper seemed to favor bulging in the rear rather then the front. Which could just be the way I put the diaper on.

I got home from work and took the diaper off to take a shower which I used as an opportunity to really test the hook and loop tabs.

I took the diaper completely off po all the tabs off. Then showered and put the diaper back on like it was a new one. And the tabs are completely solid. No issues. This is huge considering tapes/ tabs are the Achilles heal of typical diapers.

I went to bed at night and when I woke up after being in the diaper from 12 ish hours I noticed the diaper was in good shape. There was some clumping of the padding just like abena’s are known to do but it was able to take a full mornings wetting and more.

As of the time I’m writing this post I’ve been wearing the same xp5000 which is now very wet for the last 18 hours. I’ve had no leaks or issues and I’m generally impressed with this diapers performance.

Final thought:

I really like this diaper and it will probably become part of my regular rotation. It isn’t the best of the premium diapers but it is very good. It’s very absorbent, comfortable, and practical. This diaper is in my honest opinion 10x better then the last entry to the diaper market by XP medical which was the A+. Which I ordered once and never bought again.

this is a very good diaper.

I tend to agree with what you said. I recently got a sample pack from XPMed and was pleased when it was 2 diapers and all free. I thought the diaper was a bit smaller than the Better Drys that I normally wear. But the overall fit was pretty good for me. I really liked the hook and loop tabs. Being reusable was great and loved the extra stiffness it gave to the front for some reason. I wore them for 2 nights with no issues or leaks so ended up ordering a case.

I called XP Medical on Monday to request a sample and was told by the customer rep who took my call that they only sent samples to people who had previously ordered from them. I didn’t press the issue, but that response still has me SMH.

I didn’t realize that was XPs policy. I’ve been buying from them for years so of course they were happy to send me the sample. I sure would have thought that they had a process where they charge for the shipping for newcomers or something like that. Sorry to hear. I’m really liking them.

I remember about 8 years ago they had the option to buy their samples. I haven’t used them in 5 years at least so I dont know when this changed

So is the fit like a DryCare? Are they sized bigger or smaller than “normal”?

I remember buying like 9 samples awhile back when Tykables was playing the shell game with their low capacity wear-to-work diapers. I think they were $4.99 or $5.99 for 2pcs.

I’m on the fence as to companies giving away diaper samples. On one hand I think a lot of the samples don’t lead to actual sales, and so that’s just wasted time and effort for them. But if you’re a known regular (or even semi-regular) customer that’s known to get bags or cases, free samples are probably a really good investment for them. If a customer likes your diaper, they’re probably going to buy quite a bit of it from you over the long term.

Though nowadays I don’t see two pieces as being enough to properly evaluate a diaper, unless it’s obviously utter rubbish. I get a bag of 8/10 to evaluate usually. I think Tykables having the “build-a-case” option is a great option. I just got a 1/2 case to check out their new galactic, puppers, and unicorns. Spoiler: same exact diapers, with a different print, also is identical to their Dino RawrZ and probably also their Waddlers, as well as Changing Times’ Bear Hugs. Owell. even if they’re the same, it’s nice to have a choice of prints. Pink usually isn’t my think but I am partial to the Unicorns, they have a nice “diaper look” to them, a much more “appropriate” print than many other diapers.

Their build-a-case is a little more expensive than a single model case, though. I’d imagine they’ve ran the numbers and have decided it works for them, but I could see them eating the overhead of assembling the custom cases just to encourage people to try their different models, which would seem to lead to more sales for them in the end? Or even possibly having a set mixed case that contains one bag of each of their most popular models, even at a slight discount, for just that reason.
