Best Disposable Diapers for Sleeping on One's Side

I use diapers at night. Earlier I had used pre-fold cloth diapers, with diaper pins. More recently I’ve been using cloth training pants from Baby-Pants.com (a size 3XL over a size 4XL, for added absorbency). Both methods work fine, but the training pants are easier to put on and take off, and don’t require diaper pins. I use plastic pants over the diapers or training pants.

I’d like to try using disposable diapers at night at least for a while. However, during the night I sleep not only on my back but also sometimes on my side. I’m concerned that leakages might occur when I sleep on my side.

Can anyone recommend good disposable diapers that will not leak if I wet them while I’m sleeping on my side? (I also want the disposable diapers to have strong absorbency, as I wet quite a bit during a night’s sleep.)

I sleep half on my side, half on my tummy … my bladder leaks and often times voids while I sleep. I personally use Rearz with a 1,300 ml booster . They have very good guards and a decent absorbency rate.

I have to sleep on my side and I have tried just about every disposable on the market and have never found one that didn’t leak like a sieve. The only way I can keep my bed dry is with cloth diapers folded and pinned to give me a good overlap on my sides and a good fitting pair of plastic pants.

I sometimes wonder if it really has to do with the way men are positioned in their diapers. Rather than the diaper itself. I worn abena m4, forsure, rearz. None of them have leaked when I was on my side. I see this post alot and just wonder if maybe cloth diapers are not really better for some at night. I knew a guy who was incontinent and he wore cloth at night because they were superior.

Altho I use cloth diapers most nights, I sometimes use Northshore Supremes or Megamax disposables. For me, it helps to add a cloth pull up diaper over the disposable. This keeps things tighter so pee doesn’t work to the edge of the disposable and if it does, the cloth absorbs the leak. But usually I find the Northshores keep me dry even tho I sleep on my side too.

your success is going to be a mix of:

  • choice of diaper model

  • choice of SIZE of diaper

  • how you tape up

for me Betterdry or Crinklz diapers are my go to diaper Also rearz new hybrid seems to work well as does Tykables Cammie diaper but the current first batch leaves blue dye on the bed pad and on my body when they leak due to a manufacturing issue with the blue colouring that was accident added to the wings the next batch should be corrected.

I sleep on my side and I also use Crinklz/Betterdry at night for my diaper. Never had an issue. ::p:

They have really high inner guards … much larger than most other diapers.

I find you want something that has a little more bulk to it from the start so it doesn’t swell up immediately after wetting and cause a leak because of the sleeping position. The inspire+ has a nice bulky core so they are great for side sleepers, there was also a YouTuber who made a video and found the same results - Link

That is what makes them so fantastic for side sleepers!

Northshore Megamax.

Point your hose down.

Fold about 1.5 inches of the front waistband down inside to create a front leak guard.

Create the propper ‘V’ channel in the crotch.

Properly taped (bottom tapes slanted up, top tapes slanted down.

Or cloth diapers with plastic pants.
