Anyone else born with a cleft palate

I was born with a cleft palate and had problems telling my parents that I had to go potty. So I had to go to a special education school and had to wear diapers to school and I also have mild autism.

When I was 7, I has 3 surgeries to correct my cleft palate. During the first surgery I had to spend 3 nights in the hospital. During my reception the nurse gave my mom a pack of huggies diapers for me to wea, so my mom could change me instead of having a nurse do it. The day after the surgery I had to go to speech therapy at the hospital. When I was done with the therapy I was able to go to the playroom.

The second surgery was to remove my tonsils. Which was only a day surgery so I was abled to just wear my pullups that I wore to bed since I was a bedwetter.

The 3rd surgery was to finish correcting the cleft palate and I had to spend another 3 nights in the hospital and was given another pack of huggies diapers to wear. The kid who was in the bed next to me ask me why I was in diapers. My mom told him it was because I wasn’t abled to talk and had learning disabilities.

It sounds like you had a rough start in life. Hugs.
